🌊 Navigating the Magical Waters of a Greek Yacht Charter: How to Plan Your Perfect Itinerary 🌊 Embarking on a yacht charter in Greece is the quintessential adventure for sea lovers. Here's how to make the most of your trip! 🇬🇷 Who Decides the Itinerary? When you charter a yacht, the ultimate authority on your route is the captain, especially considering safety and weather conditions. However, your desires and preferences play a crucial role. Dreaming of sunsets in Santorini or the vibrant nightlife in Mykonos? Let your captain know! Weather Permitting— While you might have a planned route, weather conditions can prompt changes. Ever heard of the Meltemi winds? Realistic Itineraries When people think of Greece, they immediately want to fly into Athens to start their charter and see Mykonos and Santorini. It's technically possible within a week, but not advisable. Consider this: Athens to Mykonos alone is around 90 nautical miles, a 13-15 hour journey at 6-7 knots. Adding Santorini involves another 70 nautical miles. That's a lot of sailing! All just to get there and missing many amazing places along the way. What we recommend is either taking a one way from Athens to Mykonos and then a fast ferry or plane over to Santorini OR starting your trip in Mykonos and doing a round trip charter just in the Cyclades. Best Practices Daily Distance: Aim for about 20 nautical miles per day 2-4 hours of travel to enjoy your surroundings. Planning a yacht trip in Greece is about balancing dreams with the realities of sea travel. Whether it’s exploring ancient ruins in the Saronic Gulf or enjoying the picturesque streets of Mykonos, each day brings something new. For anyone dreaming of a Greek sailing adventure, feel free to connect or follow for more insights and tips on making the most out of your yacht charter experience! 🌟⛵ In the meantime, take a look at one of our suggested itineraries to get an idea of how much you can see on a one-way from Athens to Mykonos. #yachtcharter #greekislands #greekcharter
