🚀 Excited to dive into the world of Open Science with my latest project! For those unfamiliar, Open Science is a movement to make research more transparent, collaborative, and accessible to everyone. In support of the Open Science trend, I've been developing a virtual think tank-style lab, where I’m working to bridge the gap between highly technical publications (e.g., scientific journals) and more general, high-level media (e.g., NY Times, Wired). The goal is to synthesize complex ideas into actionable insights for investors, corporate strategists, research agencies, Ph.D. students, and entrepreneurs. Here’s how it works: 1. Scope – Exploring the implications of exponential technologies like AI, data, and cryptography on power consumption, digital biomarkers, climate, finance, and more. 2. Virtual Meetings – Engaging with global experts. 3. Cross-disciplinary Analysis – Writing and sharing notes on these complex, interconnected topics. 4. Experimentation – Testing new ideas to improve the process. I've already received valuable input from investors, Ph.D. students, and company strategists, which has helped shape this effort. I'm curious to see where this journey will take us! Check it out here: Think Tank Lab Project: https://lnkd.in/dE7nN4rW This is my way of contributing to the Open Science movement - drawing across my networks of researchers and deep tech ventures. The goal is to create new knowledge, make it freely accessible, and increase the impact for Ph.D. students, entrepreneurs, investors, corporate strategists, and research agencies. #OpenScience #ExponentialTech #AI #Crypto #Research #ThinkTank #Innovation #Collaboration #ScienceForAll David Bchiri, Thank you for your added insights. In business, there's a straightforward mantra that often rules the day: "Get it done, and get it done effectively." While the allure of perfecting a theory or refining an experimental model can be captivating, especially for those with a passion for academia, the business arena plays by a different set of rules. ✅ Here’s the deal: if you find yourself in an applied team, your priority is clear: generate profit and deliver solutions. This isn't to downplay the importance of research and experimentation; these are crucial in their own right. However, when operating outside of a pure research position, the expectation shifts dramatically. Businesses thrive on action and results, not just ideas and potential. ✅ Adapt and Deliver: For those used to the academic grind, this shift in focus can be a jarring one. But it’s also an exciting opportunity to see your work come to life, impacting real-world processes and bottom lines. In the practical realms of industry, the ability to adapt your knowledge to meet business requirements is invaluable. It’s about making tangible contributions that resonate with stakeholders and shareholders alike. Remember, while it's great to seek new knowledge, the pursuit of applicable solutions is what keeps the business world turning. So, if you're on an applied team, embrace the challenge. Innovate, execute, and let your results do the talking. After all, in business, it’s not just about what you can dream up; it’s about what you can deliver. 🤔 How do you balance research and practical outcomes? #operationsresearch #algorithms #datascience #thoughtleadership #computerscience #softwaredevelopment #coding photo credit: xkcd
