Attending the #BAM2024 Conference has been an incredible opportunity and an enriching experience. Yesterday, the session on qualitative methodology, particularly a paper by Gizem Kadioglu and others, “Exploring Uncharted Territories: The Role of Counterfactuals in Qualitative Theory Building in Management and Organization Studies,” was a mind opening about analysing the process that we as researchers should apply not only to data but to the entire process. Our thinking is set to do things in a particular way, but being aware of counterfactuals is a new tool to improve our analysis and reduce bias.
