Tech Council of Delaware’s Post

🫱🏽🫲🏽As an extension of the work the Tech Council of Delaware has engaged in with the PROPEL–The National Center for Precision Medicine tech hub, we are pleased to deepen our alliance with the following regional partners as we collectively participate on the America Achieves Good Jobs Economy Initiative: Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Works, Inc., The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, Pennovation Works, and the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development. This cohort of partners, known as the Greater Philadelphia Region, will engage in the nine-month Good Jobs Economy Initiative, with several other U.S. locales, to develop regional workforce and economic development governance models that promote the creation of quality jobs👩🏽💻 and the filling of those jobs with residents seeking career advancement, economic mobility, and financial independence.💵 💼As part of this groundbreaking initiative, America Achieves hosted their Good Jobs Economy Peer Learning Convening in Washington, D.C. on December 4 – 6, 2024 for participating regions which include Greater Philadelphia, New Orleans, LA, South Florida, Syracuse-Buffalo-Rochester, NY, Richmond-Petersburg, VA, Southern West Virginia, Tulsa, OK, Montana-North Dakota, Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN, El Paso, TX, Madison-Milwaukee, WI, and Detroit, MI. Attendees were treated to a happy hour and networking session, fireside chat with Jon Schnur, CEO of America Achieves and Maurice Jones, CEO of FirstGen Forward, a special presentation on governance with leaders from The Brookings Institution, and peer learning sessions with fellow participants. The convening concluded with a tour of Amazon’s Arlington, Virginia headquarters and a conversation with leaders from the Greater Washington Partnership. 📈The Tech Council of Delaware is excited to be part of this one-of-a-kind initiative and contribute to creating a shared governance model that more easily facilitates regional collaborations and leads to an increased ability to attract major funding and large-dollar investments – all of which enable our region to thrive as a #techhub and advance a #goodjobs #economy. More to come on this initiative in early 2025! #regionalgovernance #economicdevelopment #workforcedevelopment
