This is right on the money (pun intended). We often start off being successful using our intuition in areas we are familiar with, then make the assumption we can do the same thing as we move into new things. Big mistake. Facts can be fun. Learn to trust them. #factsoverfeelings #showmethedata #levelup #thecorporateinterface

I really like this Ted as it really demonstrates how auditors are expected to avoid vague statements mentioning’some’, ‘often’ and so on to clearly deliver a message which will be understood exactly the same by the report readers! Please quantify, always!

In her captivating TED talk, Liv Boery, the former European Poker champion, shares valuable insights on decision-making. As we navigate our careers and lives, we often grapple with the tension between intuition and careful analysis. Here’s a closer look at each key takeaways: 1. “Success is sweetest when you achieve it across a large sample size.” Think of success as a statistical phenomenon. It’s not about a single lucky break; it’s about consistent wins over time. In poker, a single hand doesn’t define a player’s skill. It’s the cumulative effect of many hands that matters. Similarly, in our careers, sustained effort and learning yield the sweetest victories. 2. “Your gut is your friend…and also is a cost-benefit analysis.” Trust your gut, but also validate it with data. Combine instinct with evidence. 3. “The future is unknown, but you can damn well estimate it.” Uncertainty is a constant. We can’t predict every twist and turn, but we can make informed estimates. Just as poker players calculate odds, we must assess probabilities in business and life. Embrace the unknown, armed with thoughtful estimates. So, let’s play our cards right by combining intuition with thoughtful analysis to make winning decisions in both our professional and personal lives.

This quote struck me: "Your Gut isn't as reliable as you think it is," by Liv Boeree. It made me realize that even our intuition can be deceiving. I strongly agree with this perspective, emphasizing the susceptibility of gut feelings to external influences. What are your thoughts on this? My gut feeling is that I may not know myself well and how I make correct decisions. It is dependent on my "Algo-Riddim." I'm curious to hear your take on it. Additionally, I'd love to discuss the impact of AI, luck, life, and truth more, especially in the context of our lives of entertainment and unreal realities, the Intelligence industry, and the advancement of technology, such as #AIAvatars and #Deepfakes make me question how sure we are about anything these days. #Trust in our surroundings and other public or private individuals or corporations are significant issues after discovering that your world is not what you thought it was for decades, maybe even millenniums. The influence and use of technology in companies like The Walt Disney Company, Lucasfilm, Sony Pictures Entertainment NVIDIA, and Unreal Engine in #Hollywood, the net WWW, and even our private lives are all compelling discussion topics.

I love this Ted Talk. Ironically, it also formed part of the strategy module of my MBA. I find decision heuristics (and corporate behavioural psychology in general) fascinating. I agree with the principle if you don’t take a risk, you may never realise an opportunity. However, the ethos here isn’t whether you would take a risk, it concerns the amount of mental energy/consulting/information sourcing before making a decision (and recognising the difference and significance of choices in the first place (dam system 1 and system 2 thought mechanics 😂 haven’t quite nailed those yet)) #decisions #risk #business #strategy
