CEEZER revealed the seven companies selected to be part of its second Carbon Coalition cohort including CO2BC members: SeaO2 and Heimdal The CEEZER Carbon Coalition provides startups in the voluntary carbon market with the tools needed to bridge the gap between ideation and commercialization. The program addresses the challenges typically faced by project developers such as increasing buyer awareness, understanding buyer needs, navigating contracts and registries, inventory management, and carbon credit pricing. A closer look at the pitching companies: 🌎 Blusink is a leading innovator in marine carbon capture, using technology to permanently store emissions while restoring biodiversity in the oceans. 🌎 DEScycle, an existing portfolio company, uses a class of chemistry, Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES), to disrupt the $82bn e-waste industry. Having made strong progress since its last round, DEScycle is successfully raising a Series A. 🌎 HyWaves are simplifying the electronics design architecture and enhancing electrolysers to increase green hydrogen production. All with the aim of ensuring that green hydrogen is produced locally. CARBON CAPTURE: Vaulted Deep has raised an impressive Series A round of $32.3M to further the advancement of their climate tech, which locks away planet-warming carbon by burying organic waste deep underground. I love these startups that combine seemingly simple tech, to create innovative solutions. So how does it work? Vaulted deep takes Carbon-bearing, sludgy, organic wastes (like biosolids, agricultural & livestock wastes, and paper sludge) that otherwise would have gone to a landfill, dumped in a waterway, or spread on land to decompose, and then diverts that waste to inject the carbon deep underground. The result is permanent, 10,000+ year, carbon removal. With an impressive list of investors (as follows), this one to watch: Prelude Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, Earthshot Ventures, WovenEarth Ventures, Fall Line Capital, Rethink Impact, LP

Many of the top VC funding deals in the Nordics within the last year were related to #greentech, #cleantech and #climatetech.* Look into H2 Green Steel, Northvolt, Aira, Adcendo. This trend will continue in 2025 and this is not a coincidence. Startups that are redefining the world’s most polluting industries (#fossilfuels, #agriculture, #fashion, #foodretail, #transport, #construction) will be booming in the coming years. ‼ Three categories of startups that will keep thriving: 🏛 #Sustainable cities that include environment, mobility and adaptation ♻ Resilient systems, Regenrative solutions and Circular economy ☄ Energy, renewable energy and alternative energy solutions ❓ Why? The EU has introduced climate, energy, transport and taxation policies to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels. This, in turn, is meant to make the EU the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. The deadline for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted in 2015, is approaching as we basically have 5 years to reach those SDGs (#impossible …or?).
