If you're a job seeker in 2024, you may find that: Networking and making connections can be challenging and may not always be helpful. Directly reaching out to recruiters and employees of your desired company may not always yield the desired results. Here are four key actions you can take: 1. Craft an exceptional resume highlighting your achievements, quantifiable figures, and relevant keywords. 2. Optimize your LinkedIn profile by selecting a compelling title, crafting an engaging introduction, and showcasing your skill sets. Additionally, request recommendations from current and former colleagues to enhance your credibility. 3. Prepare thoroughly for interviews by conducting extensive research on the company, mastering your resume and professional experience, and crafting a compelling response to the "tell us about yourself" question. Be prepared to effectively market yourself and anticipate technical questions about the position you're applying for. 4. Maintain focus and positivity throughout your job search, and apply to positions that align with your skills and background. By implementing these strategies, you can enhance your chances of securing employment in today's competitive job market.

During a job search, I stumbled upon a LinkedIn job posting that caught my eye. I wasn't fully qualified. But I decided to apply anyway. After submitting my application, I reached out to the recruiter with a thoughtful question about the application process. This simple step helped me stand out, and I secured an interview! Even though I didn't make it past the next stage, the experience taught me a valuable lesson. When people say you should apply for jobs and reach out to the recruiter or hiring manager, they're right. It works. With so many applications, competition is fierce. Going the extra mile can set you apart. Just remember to be authentic and professional in your messages. For more tips on how to reach out to recruiters effectively, check out this video: - How to Reach Out to a Recruiter on LinkedIn (the Right Way) by Jeff Su on YouTube. It offers great insights on making a positive impression!

As a job seeker, you cross your fingers and hope for the best when a potential position appeals to you. However, even in 2024, there are still unscrupulous companies out there, putting up roadblocks to the process. Why? Is there some sort of twisted satisfaction to doing this? Today I saw a listing for a position that I was a great fit for. Click on 'Apply', and another tab opens to a different site. Ok, not anything new here. Go through the process of setting up a profile, fill out all the boxes, dot the i's, cross the t's. The natural next step *** should *** be finishing applying to the position. NOPE. Nowhere to be found. I send an email to the company on the different site, and am told "Thanks for getting in touch, sadly you can't apply for roles on (redacted), once you are Live companies can see your profile and send you interview requests. Will let you know once you will receive an interview request." How are they allowed to post a job here and give you NO WAY TO APPLY FOR IT?

Seeing loads of graduation posts at the moment from my network. First and foremost, bloody well done! It’s a huge achievement, take a breather and rest up! Naturally, many are now starting the job hunt. It can seem daunting, where do you start? How should you apply? What should you apply for? Few application tips from me on tackling the job hunt: ·Try and avoid the “spray and pray” approach. Narrow down your desired industries and preferred roles and stick to your guns. Tailor your CV to each role if possible. ·Don’t rely on just job boards. Job boards are great and they serve their purpose but you should view these as an introduction to the opportunity. Go further than just uploading your CV, reach out to seniors in that business on linkedin, give the business a call (if you’re brave enough). Do what you can to stand out! ·Expect some calls! Depending on the volume of applications you put in, you will 100% receive phone calls from the internal hiring team or from a recruiter. If you get a call, then fantastic, you’re already in the running! Be ready to discuss your skills and hopefully, you will have some notes prepared for when that phone rings.
