Sophomore Finance & Business Analytics Student @ Drexel University

Along with my study abroad experience with Drexel University, we had the opportunity to be apart of a transformative initiative this past September. Through a partnership between Drexel University and TEDI Tanzania , founded by the inspiring Gloria Anderson , we were able to promote digital literacy and make a lasting impact on the educational landscape in the Hai District and beyond. Gloria took a bold risk when she started TEDI with a vision to give back to her community by equipping students with essential digital skills. Her dedication to closing the digital gap in Tanzania has been nothing short of inspirational. Together, we raised over $3,000 USD and received generous donations of laptops from Drexel TechServ to help turn her vision into a reality. Our mission: to empower students in Tanzania by providing them with the technology and tools to thrive in the digital age. Upon arriving in Tanzania, we were honored to open a new computer lab at Saashisha Secondary School alongside Bonnke Mutias. After, we were welcomed with an unforgettable ceremony by district education leaders and the local community. This lab, equipped with the laptops we brought from Drexel, will provide students with the resources to enhance their digital literacy and create new opportunities for their future. But the story didn’t end there. Thanks to the remaining funds and resources, TEDI was able to open another computer lab in Zanzibar later that same week, further expanding the reach of this initiative. This experience showed me the power of global partnerships and the courage it takes to spark change. I am humbled to have played a role in supporting the education of students across Tanzania and witnessing Gloria’s inspiring journey. A special thank you to Gloria Anderson, Ahaji Schreffler, Shardé Johnson, TEDI Tanzania, and Drexel TechServ for their vision and making this possible. The work we’ve started here will have a ripple effect, and I’m excited to see how these students use their new tools to shape their futures. #DigitalLiteracy #CommunityDevelopment #Tanzania #DrexelUniversity #TEDITanzania
