NEW RESEARCH – Simulaa, led by Andre Bonnice and Anna Jankovic, explores post-carbon paradigms for Australian architecture. Their study surveys exemplary projects and practices from across Northern Europe (EU member countries) where decarbonisation efforts in Energy, Waste, and Materials are being implemented on various scales and timelines. The research shows how particular strategies may affect the architectural industry here in Australia, in the hope that there is space for practitioners to take more ‘risks’ so we can implement changes to advance architecture, to be an agent for good, and to reckon with decarbonisation of the built environment. This project was supported by an Alastair Swayn Foundation International Research Grant. Beyond Zero and Infinity: Exploring a Fifth Dimensional Architecture through Tradition and Innovation This exploration seeks to transcend the conventional architectural boundaries of "Between Zero and Infinity" by investigating a dimensional capacity that exists beyond time, conceptualized as a fifth dimension. In this approach, infinity is understood as circumspect, ultimately resolving itself into nothingness (zero). However, the objective is not merely to dwell within this void but to explore a space that operates outside such constraints. Tradition becomes pivotal in this context, not as a relic of the past, but as a dynamic force —a foundation for future innovation. By reinterpreting historical architectural practices, this approach seeks to utilize the lessons of the past as instruments for the future. > 0 & 00 #gordonmattaclark #athanasiuskircher #fifthelement

It is so great to see this topic gaining traction in the design world. 👏 Proper #access and #inclusion is so much more than mere compliance with the basic minimum standards and design guidelines. Truly #accessibledesign is good quality design - it’s enabling, and most importantly it’s responsive to a basic human right to equal access.
