Humanity’s journey to understand its place in the cosmos has evolved from the reverent philosophies of ancient Greece to the challenging perspectives of modern thinkers like Nietzsche, Copernicus, and Darwin. Greek philosophers saw human beings as connected to the cosmos but not central to it, embracing the concepts of mortality and limitations as part of a balanced life. Later, Copernicus and Darwin further de-centered humanity by revealing that Earth was not the universe’s center and that humans were part of a larger evolutionary process, not divinely separate. Nietzsche and Freud continued this theme by highlighting human fallibility and inner conflicts.
