What’s your take on short internships for transitioning to AEC tech? We get this question often. While we agree that internships can be helpful, there are alternative ways to transition without quitting your current job. Check out Jake's response on this topic in his IG Live session with Helen. — #career #careertransition #architecture #architect #outofarchitecture #careerdevelopment

🌟 Intern Spotlight: Meet Phoebe Ellis! 🌟 We just caught up with Phoebe, one of our talented summer interns working out of our corporate office. Here’s what she shared: 🔹 About Phoebe: "I'm interning with the R&D department at the corporate office. I recently completed my second year at Georgia Tech, majoring in Civil Engineering. I’m also from Atlanta, Georgia." 🔹 Internship Experience at Schnabel: "My internship at Schnabel has been great! Everyone is kind and willing to share their knowledge. I’ve enjoyed visiting job sites, applying classroom knowledge, and working with fellow interns. I’ve been involved in micropile load tests at M&T Bank Stadium, job support for SOMOS and Eccles, and R&D projects like analyzing waterfront tiebacks, concrete maturity, and deflection of a hanging mast. This experience has been eye-opening and shaped my future career goals." 🔹 Most Important Lesson Learned: "The most important lesson I’ve learned so far is that it’s okay to ask questions or ask for help. I’m halfway through college, so I still have a lot to learn. Everyone at Schnabel is a great resource, and I need to take advantage of all the knowledge they have." 🔹 Free Time Fun: "I really enjoy being outside in the sun, whether hiking, running, or sitting in a park reading a book. I also love traveling, exploring new cities, and thrifting and sewing clothes." #InternSpotlight #SchnabelCareers #PrincipledProven

Ah yes, I remember when I got picked for my very first internship in systems engineering without having a clue in the world what it was. 😅 How did you find yourself in Systems Engineering? It is interesting to note that although there have been a growing number of systems engineering degree programs and a wider reach towards awareness of the discipline... 1. It is still not a widely understood role for the general public. 🌐 2. It is still not a commonly pursued line of study amongst younger folk. 👨🎓 3. It is still dominated by the very first generations to encounter it. 📊 I wonder when we will stop being chosen by Systems Engineering... And actually start picking Systems Engineering ourselves. 🤔 Any thoughts from my fellow Systems Engineers out there? #systemsengineering #meme

What advice did Harvard Business School EC students have about pursuing a #climate internship during our career panel? 1. Use your summer to explore, it won't define you forever. 2. Talk intentionally and specifically about what you need. 3. Have clarity around what the goal for your internship is. 4. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Set manageable weekly outreach targets. Wondering what climate roles and companies that MBA students pursue? Be sure to check out our blog that features students who had sustainability internships over the summer: https://lnkd.in/dK98eFuA Brett Atkinson Mike Finocchio Ines Gurmendi Max Israelit Ian Kuhlenthal Eli Litchman Luca Mantovani Diana Mongare Faisal Olanipekun Anish Subramanian Kate Swain Smith Lia Turrini Tom Walkinshaw Carina Young David Kay

Ended my internship at ID Quantique. This internship was part of the SECI (Social, Environmental and Community Internship) proposed by CentraleSupélec | McGill - Bachelor in Global Engineering, to students who finished their first year in the program. The SECI focused in targeting the SDG Goals, and to give students a perspective of the environment and sustainability aspects of society. As a quality intern, I was responsible of calculating the carbon footprint of the ID Quantique and assess environmental risks that could pose a problem to the company. This internship targetted the SDG Goal 13: Climate Action at its core. My report to ID Quantique contained lots of information on: - The company’s position in an environmental level, - The effects of environmental regulations putting in place to the company, - What it could do to reduce their footprint. I enjoyed my time contributing in the company, and I spread awareness of sustainability and enviroment friendliness in the company with my report, and hope it helps the company in the future. I cherished my time at ID Quantique, as it was my first internship working at a professional level. ——— During my internship ——— My contribution: - Calculated the CO2 impact / carbon footprint of the company from 2018 up to 2024. - Assessed evironmental risks that could affect the company. - Made an action plan that the company could base upon to reduce its carbon footprint. What I learned: - Learned to transform raw data into useful ones. - Mastered basic Excel functions. - Developped better communication skills will colleagues & understand the importance of quality management; understood the basic functions of a company. ——— Acknowledgement ——— I would like to thank Ludovic Evrard for getting contacts from different departments, so that I could get data and interview them. He also guided me to show which information is relevant and “staying on track”, so that I don’t diverge beyond the scope of my internship. I would also like thank Grégoire Ribordy for giving me small, but crucial advice to improve my final report, to communicate better to employees in the company. I thank both of them for being my mentors during my internship. Finally, I thank to all my colleagues with whom I’ve interviewed; data was crucial in calculating the carbon footprint of ID Quantique, and our discussions were interesting and informative. I now have an idea of the basic structure of the company because of that.
