"India is well-positioned to shape the future of AI," says Sundar Pichai. When someone mentioned that while many Indian candidates are smart, they often lack strong foundational knowledge, he responded: "Real success comes from understanding things deeply." He emphasized that Indians truly understand concepts, not just know them. I agree that India has great potential in AI. There are many innovative ways AI is being used in India, and new startups are emerging. These startups show India's ability to adapt and innovate with AI. With its talented and creative tech community, India is well-positioned for AI advancements. #ArtificialIntelligence #AI

Did you know that funding for Indian AI startups has plummeted by a staggering 91% in Q2? In a surprising turn of events, Indian AI startups have seen their funding drop dramatically from $92 million last year to just $8.2 million in the second quarter of this year. Investors have hit the brakes due to a lack of successful use cases and the current volatile market influenced by rising interest rates and geopolitical tensions. The decline suggests that while there was initial excitement and investment, the sustainability of these startups has come into question. The industry now faces a big squeeze, making it crucial for startups to demonstrate tangible value and real-world applications to attract future investments. This raises an important question: Was AI just a bubble, similar to the dot-com wave, or is it actually the future? The initial surge in investments indicated strong belief in AI's potential, but the current funding drought suggests a need for reevaluation. Is this downturn a sign of an overhyped industry, or simply a necessary correction on the path to sustainable innovation? What do you think this means for the future of AI innovation in India? Was AI just a bubble, or is it truly the future? Thoughts!

India may not be the 1st or 2nd or even 10th to start off in many things, but many a times we have been the best even after starting late. Whether it is payments, mobile network etc and the same might be true for India's AI." -Rajan Anandan at the Global India AI summit today. The future of AI does look bright in India with the government laying out Rs 10,000 cr of investment over the next few years in the area of AI and out of that Rs 2000 cr only in promoting startups in the AI domain. A large part of the investment will also go in providing subsidised compute power to the startups and researchers. We at Change Engine are committed to helping future founders who want to create products in the AI foundational or application level. Stay tuned for a lot of initiatives from Change Engine in understanding and promoting AI in India. INDIAai #MeitY #AI #startups

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 An Inc42 Media survey of over 50 venture capital investors revealed that 84% perceive the boom in Generative AI (GenAI) investments in India as highly driven by FOMO. This aligns with the data showing a 4.4x increase in funding for Indian GenAI startups in 2024 compared to 2020. Amid the incredible growth of India’s AI ecosystem, one major roadblock remains: 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘆. Currently, AI operates under general data privacy, cybersecurity and copyright laws—but these fail to address the unique challenges AI brings, such as bias, transparency and accountability. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲: 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵: Focus on unbiased models for credit scoring and fraud detection to avoid disadvantageing low-income individuals. 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲: Ensure ethical AI applications in diagnostics and personalized treatments. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿: Craft tailored guidelines to balance innovation and risk. As industry leaders highlight, a 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿-𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 is the need of the hour. A universal, one-size-fits-all regulation risks stifling early-stage startups while failing to mitigate sector-specific challenges. As Artha India Ventures Damani suggests, a 𝗽𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘂𝘁 with tailored regulations is a better way to support growth while ensuring accountability. India hosts a thriving ecosystem of over 200 GenAI startups, collectively securing more than $1.2 billion in funding from 2020 through the third quarter of 2024. Jensen Huangs visit to #India has been an amazing experience in terms of his perspective on how the #AI gameplan is playing out. Here are my key takeaways from his visit 1️⃣ AI can't do 100% of a person's job. It can do 40 -50 % of the job but 100 times better so #Skill up because AI is not going to take your job away. Someone who can use AI better than you will. 2️⃣ We are going to move away from telling the computer what to do to telling the computer what we intend to do. AI will be the Genie in the lamp but you need to tell it what to do. 3️⃣ The ingredients for AI are High-quality human #intelligence, #Energy and #Data. India has 600 million people generating Data, an abundance of #renewable energy, and the highest quality #Tech #talent. India is best positioned to capitalize on it. 4️⃣ India is moving away from a backend cost reduction. AI can help it move into a #revenue-generating industry. 5️⃣ As business leaders we surround ourselves with people more talented and intelligent than us and then put checks and balances to regulate them. AI needs to be treated similarly. #founders #startups #innovation #technology #Entrepreneurship #management #humanresources
