At the Energetics 2024, the TFKable team is showcasing a comprehensive range of cables and wires for various applications in the energy sector. Our solutions include cables at different voltage levels – from extra-high, through medium and low voltages, to specialised wires, including those designed for photovoltaic systems. Among the innovations is the TFPowerPack – a mobile energy storage solution that optimises the use of renewable energy sources (RES) and manages electric vehicle charging stations. This technology can be integrated with a photovoltaic farm, minimising energy losses and eliminating the need to shut down the system during sudden voltage spikes. We are also showcasing the capabilities of the High and Extra-High Voltage Laboratory in Bydgoszcz, equipped with five Faraday chambers, high-voltage generators up to 1000 kV, and an impulse generator up to 2400 kV, allowing for routine and type testing of cables and cable systems. TFKable also has two testing fields with 500 kV and 750 kV systems and 5000 A heating transformers, enabling full qualification testing of cables up to 500 kV, as well as prototypes of HVDC and EHVAC cables. Visit us at stand 66. The TFPowerPack magazine display will be available at stand number 135. #Energetics2024 #TFKable #Innovations #EnergySector #TFKGroup #TFPowerPack #TFEasyLineMVC #LV #HV #EHV #PVcables

Integration of EVs through RES with Controlled Interfacing Electric cars have a lot of promise in future energy markets as a manageable load. A popular vehicle-to-grid control interface, which enables the aggregation of the charging mechanism for energy management in the distribution grid, is one of the most significant road blocks to realize this opportunity. Understanding the ecology of electric transportation and integrating it in local communities to alleviate the energy shortage at peak hours is very complicated. In this research paper, recent standardization initiatives aimed at overcoming obstacles such as the integration of electric cars into smart grids are discussed. A charge control scheme focused on vehicle-to-grid connectivity is implemented. It is observed that the rise of environmentally sustainable energy sources, such as photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy, is straining the power network and their infrequent power generation is causing problems in power system operation, regulation and planning. The introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) into the electricity grid has been proposed to overcome grid load variations. Finally, the article discusses the incorporation of renewable energy sources and latest potential solutions involving electric vehicles. #snsinstutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking

🚀 Role of Grid-Forming Inverters in Modern Power Systems 🌍 As renewable energies like wind and solar gain traction, Grid-Forming (GFM) inverters have emerged as essential components in maintaining grid stability. Unlike Grid-Following Inverters, relying on existing grid voltage and frequency, GFM inverters are voltage source inverters capable of independently controlling these parameters. 🔐 Key Advantages of GFM inverters: 💠Grid Stability: GFM inverters provide vital frequency regulation and virtual inertia, countering reduced system inertia from high RES integration. 💠Microgrid Support: GFM inverters enable independent operation in isolated systems, enhancing resilience, especially in remote areas. 💠Decentralization: Multiple GFMs can share grid stabilization responsibilities, reducing the risk of single points of failure. 🔐 Challenges of Multiple GFM Inverters: 💠Complex Interactions: Poor coordination can lead to frequency instabilities and voltage regulation issues. 💠Control Complexity: Advanced systems are required for managing these inverters, increasing costs and complexity. 💠Scalability and Costs: Significant investment is needed for robust hardware and continuous updates to align with evolving grid codes. As we move toward a sustainable energy future, the integration of GFM inverters is critical. Their potential for stabilizing power systems and facilitating renewable energy integration cannot be overstated. #RenewableEnergy #PowerSystems #GridStability #InverterTechnology #SustainableFuture #GridForming #GridFollowing

As Alberta accelerates its renewable energy transition, I am thrilled to announce that our paper, "Smart Interconnected Distribution Substation Network with Integrated Tie Converter," is now available on IEEE Electrification Magazine! This research was a collaboration with Zhiheng Lin and Yunwei Ryan Li, where we explored innovative applications of power electronics converters to strengthen existing distribution networks. With the rapid integration of distributed renewable energy resources and electric vehicles across North America, traditional distribution substations face challenges such as voltage fluctuations, load imbalances, and dynamic power demands. Our paper offers a timely solution, using Alberta's distribution substations as a real-world case example. We demonstrate how power electronics can upgrade smart substations, enabling dynamic power balancing and extending infrastructure lifespan, all while minimizing costly upgrades. This approach not only streamlines the integration of renewable energy resources into the existing distribution grid but also facilitates the transition from an ac grid to a hybrid ac/dc smart grid. The perspective we offer may seem familiar to some, but I believe it will spark interesting discussions. Enjoy the read! #Powerelectronics #Research #gridintegration #gridplanning
