Decreasing stress begins with knowing the difference between what we cannot control versus what we can control. For example a person cannot control the leader's temper tantrum. We cannot control the weather. But we can control our reactions and thoughts. Self-care fits the queen. #selfcare #empowerment #enoughisenough #selfcontrol #armempco

In Coaching this is one of the tools I would use with my clients to determine what to concentrate on. Dr. Travis Bradberry is reminding us at a moment where a lot of people are upset or going through uncertain times. I believe this exercise can help you build resilience and not feel powerless. If you want to change the world start with yourself. And let the rest be the rest. 📝How to do this exercise: Sit down and put the things you have the power to influence into the smaller circle. And put the things that you'd like or want to influence but have no control over into the outer circle. Have your family, friends, colleagues do the the same. Everyone individually and then discuss all together. https://lnkd.in/d_2in7xs

I need to continually work at controlling what I can control. I must admit that the things out of my control that I need to work on are outcomes that did not meet my preferred outcome. In addition, caring to much about what others think about me. Focusing to much effort on what other people do is also an area of opportunity. Open up the below link. https://lnkd.in/gqfxaMFq

In the last few months, I am hearing more and more from leaders that their teams are "stressed". The visual below is so compelling as far as a roadmap in the blue area for where leaders should be spending their time and energy. If we focus on what we can't control, that is a recipe for discontentment, an emotion that can be felt by our teams and ultimately, causes stress for everyone. For me, the area out of my control that is the biggest "thief" of my energy is the future. I actually is a strength of mine but I have to manage it because it can become a source of stress if my team isn't getting enough done fast enough, if I can't "see" that a goal we committed to is going to work...... If I am always focused on the future, how can I be clear about what is important today and be satisfied with "enough"? What out of my control area is the biggest thief of your energy?

This supports self-reflection, introspection, and mindfulness of one's powers of control and those that need to be left to a higher power.
