Persistent Maritime Domain Awareness MQ-9B SeaGuardian® is the maritime-focused sibling of the revolutionary SkyGuardian® remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) that has been missionized using "bolt-on/bolt-off" maritime sensors. SeaGuardian is designed to fly over the horizon via satellite for over 30 hours (depending on configuration) in all types of weather and safely integrate into civil airspace, enabling joint forces and civil authorities to deliver real-time situational awareness anywhere in the maritime domain—day or night. This highly versatile maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft can seamlessly integrate a centerline wide-area maritime radar, an automatic identification system, electronic support measures, and a self-contained anti-submarine warfare (ASW) mission kit. SeaGuardian not only integrates the most advanced maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, but it is also the first RPAS in its class to enable real-time search and patrol above and below the ocean's surface. SeaGuardian can be configured to conduct a number of maritime ISR operations, including but not limited to: Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief Search and Rescue Law Enforcement Anti-Surface Warfare Anti-Submarine Warfare Airborne Mine Counter Measures Long-Range Strategic ISR Over-the-Horizon Targeting

U. S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) 26 May Red Sea Update At approximately 10 a.m. (Sanaa time) on May 26, U.S. Central Command (#USCENTCOM) forces successfully destroyed one uncrewed aerial system (UAS) over the Red Sea, launched from an Iranian-backed Houthi controlled area of Yemen. It was determined the UAS presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels in the region. These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S., coalition, and merchant vessels.

As we mark two years since the beginning of the present war in Ukraine, #TEKEVER reaffirms its solidarity with the self-determination of a free country and hopes that this conflict will soon end, minimizing human losses and resulting in a just victory for the Ukrainian people. #TEKEVER has been supplying its unmanned technology for long-range intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions in Ukraine since spring 2022. Requests for our UAS have come from governments, NGOs, and international coalitions like the International Fund for Ukraine. We collaborate closely with the Ukrainian Armed Forces to continually enhance our systems to meet evolving needs and improve performance. Over the past months, over 100 tailored adaptations have been made to the systems to constantly adapt them to the changing operational environment, demonstrating the importance of agility and swift adaptation to real field problems. #ukrainesupport Photo by Metin Aktas/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images

G7aviation News: #Gyrocopters are slow but nimble. These aircraft can perform very short takeoffs and land with very high approach angles in small areas. They are very easily concealed, making them easy to transport for all sorts of covert reconnaissance missions, as well as for border patrols and search and rescue operations. Their ability to travel low and slow and their small radar and thermal signatures makes them hard to detect, as well. https://lnkd.in/gbiasVeh

Russia has effectively been waging electronic warfare in Northern Europe since its invasion of Ukraine, according to a report in The Barents Observer. That has made piloting a plane or a ship more challenging, particularly in the Baltic Sea area. The situation has gotten so bad in Finmark — the Norwegian territory that caps the Scandinavian peninsula — that Russia is now jamming GPS systems on an almost daily basis, the website reports. Russia’s military began blocking signals around airports inside the country in a bid to stop Ukrainian drone strikes. The disruption that this caused to border regions has been exacerbated by Russia’s tactic of deliberately targeting the neighboring countries’ airspace. GPS jamming not only affects ships and planes. It can also jeopardise public safety by interfering with communications involving police cars, ambulances, fire trucks and civil-defense units. Malaysian Ministry of Defence Unveils New Maritime Patrol Acquisitions Here's a breakdown of key defense procurement announcements by the Malaysian Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) on the third day of DSA 2024: • Total Contract Value: RM7.3 billion (official figure) • Breakdown: The contracts encompass new acquisitions, upgrades, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) projects. New Acquisitions: • Highlight: Acquisition of two ATR-72 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) • Estimated Cost: While the official price remains undisclosed, press reports from LIMA 2023 suggest a value of RM789.6 million for both aircraft, potentially awarded to Leonardo. MPA Capabilities: • Classification: An effective MPA requires specific sensor packages. In the case of the ATR-72, this ideally includes Seaspray 7300 AESA radar, Search and Rescue (SAR) capability, ATOS mission system, Electronic Support Measures (ESM), Selex EO/IR (electro-optical/infrared sensors), and SPS surface search radar. • Spectrum of Operations: Without a full mission system or maritime radar, the aircraft would be limited to Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA) functionality. • Full Spectrum MPA/ASW: Equipping the aircraft for Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) with Magnetic Anomaly Detection (MAD) boom, sonar buoys, and Lightweight Torpedo (LWT) capabilities would significantly increase acquisition and operational costs. MPA Classification Tiers: • Short-Range Maritime Patrol (SRMR): Represented by platforms like Beechcraft or Dornier aircraft. • Medium-Range Maritime Patrol (MRMR): Includes the CN295 and potentially the ATR-72, depending on configuration. • Long-Range Maritime Patrol (LRMR): Exemplified by the P-8 Poseidon or TU-95. Comparative Costs: The provided illustration (not shown here, but likely from open-source data) offers a ballpark estimate for acquisition and maintenance costs of different MPA types. Additional Note: The illustrations below from Open Source, gives a ROM price and also maintenance ballpark figure for different types of MPA. Spain's November 2023 contract for 16 fully equipped CN295 MPA/ASW aircraft highlights the potential price range for such configurations (Euro 1.7 billion) ~ Source:https://lnkd.in/gRAgHxkH *
