ZfT at IAC 2024 🛰️ 🚀 Today our TOM project will be presented at the IAC. It is an earth observation mission based on a formation of three 3U CubeSats. Using the different perspectives of the 3 satellites a 3D models will be created with photogrammetric methods, e.g. for monitoring ash clouds 🌋. More details about the challenges in TOM, such as formation control, coordinated & precise pointing, exact timing of image captures accross all three satellites will be adressed in the talk at 4:44pm in Session B4.7 "Constellation and Distributed Systems" - Space Hall2. Enjoy the talk and stay tuned for futher updates🛰️ 🚀

Historically, the majority of the tracking of objects in Earth orbit has been conducted by “remote” sensors, based on the ground. The catalogues on which we currently rely for space traffic control are, in the main, based on data from telescopes and...

We're used to seeing renderings of satellites and the International Space Station in space, but how about the real image? 🤩 We captured this image of the ISS as it passed over the Indian Ocean from a satellite 69.06 km away. By delivering non-Earth imaging at scale, generating hundreds of images per month, we are actively contributing to the sustainability of space. Our images lead to a clearer comprehension of space objects, their conditions, and activities in orbit. #NonEarthImaging #NEI #Space #SpaceAwareness #SpaceDomain #Satellite #SatelliteImage #SatelliteMonitoring

A great image of the ISS taken from a civilian observation satellite in orbit. Space to space imaging is a growing area of interest in the sector and will be a strong part of the ability to monitor and manage the increasingly crowded near-Earth environment.

Two new microsatellites, Redwing and the Little Innovator in Space Situational Awareness, or LISSA, will travel in a low-earth orbit, at approximately 575 km above the Earth’s surface. The satellites will overfly the North and South poles to fill a gap in space domain awareness, particularly near the South pole, where there are few other sensors to track and monitor space objects. “This is really Phase 1 of a massive undertaking at Tomorrow.io in our space program. We’ll eventually deploy these very exotic wide swath scanning precipitation radars, and that will be the first in a series of satellites to fill out a constellation of wide swath precipitation mapping radar satellites that will give a large field of view below the spacecraft of all of the precipitation with very high detail in three-dimensional space.” 🌧️ Richard Roy , Principal Radar Scientist at Tomorrow.io Tomorrow.io's historic satellite launch last year was just the beginning of a constellation that will transform how we can become resilient in the face of volatile weather worldwide. #weathertech #weatherresilience #operationalresilience #spacetech

“In March 2023, Minister of National Defence at the time, the Honourable Anita Anand, announced that Canada awarded a contract for the Redwing space domain awareness microsatellite project, valued at $15.8 million, to be designed, built and operated in Canada. Now, Canada has signed a contract option to add a $900,000 subsatellite to the Redwing project. The subsatellite, known as Little Innovator in Space Situational Awareness (LISSA), will launch with the Redwing satellite and will be deployed after Redwing is in orbit.” Thoth Technology Inc.

Have you updated IcySea to version 4.8.0 yet? Well, you should! IcySea's radar image layer now includes images from Sentinel-1 (European Space Agency - ESA) and RADARSAT Constellation Mission (Canadian Space Agency | Agence spatiale canadienne). With the new update the radar image coverage has increased significantly in the Canadian Arctic, Greenland and the Central Arctic Ocean. We also improved our processing algorithms which is why radar images are not only available on a daily basis in most Arctic regions now, but they are available much quicker as well. We actually had to add a new tile age value for radar images to account for this massive improvement: < 1 hour The tile age representation was updated as well. Now you can distinguish between the various satellite images, even within a single tile. If you haven't registered to IcySea yet, go get more information and your two week free trial here: https://lnkd.in/dtPDFiYK

Hello connection Satellites are objects that orbit around larger bodies, like planets. They can be natural, like moons, or artificial, which are human-made and launched into space. Artificial satellites serve various purposes, such as communication, navigation, weather monitoring, Earth observation, scientific research, and more. They orbit Earth at different altitudes and speeds depending on their function📡.#snsinstitution #snsdesignthinkers #snsdesignthinking
