We do not have all of the answers yet, but we are actively having conversations and creating community about the tech we want to see in the future. During her Lightning Talk at THE LIGHT HOUSE 2024, Deldelp Medina She,Her,Ella,Elle,Dela of Black & Brown Founders, asked three important questions. "When you think of artificial intelligence, how do you think it's going to make your life better? When you think of artificial intelligence, how do you think about it making your entrepreneurial journey a little bit easier? More importantly, when you think of artificial intelligence, what future do you want to leave for the folks that are coming behind us?" We're back with a new series of portfolio spotlight videos, published on our website (7pc.vc) to showcase the the amazing work of our founders. Neurolabs is unlocking the vast potential of computer vision for everyday application - starting with the consumer packaged goods space. Harnessing synthetic data generation, Neurolab's low-code platform allows software engineers and citizen developers to integrate computer vision into all possible solutions. Objects and products can be onboarded in a matter of minutes - rather than weeks with traditional computer vision. Without relying on the constraints of real data, customers can start implementing computer vision use cases at a fraction of the time and cost, with objects being recognised far more accurately than when using non-sythentic approaches. We backed Paul, Remus and Patric in their first funding round, and are beyond impressed with commercial traction they've achieved in the CPG space. #syntheticdata #computervision #cpg #startup

Ever heard of Cerebral Valley? If you are into AI, you definitely should know this term. Cerebral Valley is another name for the San Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco, Palo Alto, and Mountain View). It is known for its high concentration of startups and companies that focus on AI. This term plays on the "Silicon Valley" alias, emphasizing the region's crucial role in the AI industry, much like how Silicon Valley is associated with broader tech innovation. The name highlights the area's importance as a center for advanced AI research, development, and commercialization. The region is home to many leading AI companies and research institutions, including OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and others. It is known for its dense network of AI startups, venture capitalists, and tech talent. It's "the spot" to be if you are running an AI company (who is not doing that today in the tech world?) or kicking off your AI startup (once again, who is not doing that today in the tech world?). The Cerebral Valley community regularly posts information about events and meetups and has an updated Google Spreadsheet with job offers from dozens of US and European companies. The AI boom rejuvenated the tech and startup community in the US, especially in California, giving birth to places like Cerebral Valley that will (try) to lead the AI revolution. Will there ever be a similar place in Europe? Here's where you can find more info about the Cerebral Valley https://cerebralvalley.ai/ #CerebralValley #AICommunity #AImeetups #AIjobs

Last month, we Version One Ventures shared an update on our thesis: “We back mission-driven founders who are early in new areas.” In it, we mentioned that deep tech is on our radar. What does this mean? For us, deep tech (or hard tech) is an umbrella term for tech that touches atoms, not just bits. There’s a physical (hardware) component beyond the digital (software). In the past decade+, we’ve invested in many deep tech startups across several categories: - Autonomy: Pickle Robot Company & a stealth co building a robot that traverses extreme terrains for industrial data collection - Genomics & Proteomics: Gencove & a stealth co building Illumina for proteins - Diagnostics/Bio: Qvin & Scanwell Health - Energy: Moment Energy & EnergyBank - Materials: Shellworks & Bedrock Materials We've learned a lot (check out blog post on lessons in comments) and are excited to meet more founders building in deep tech! Please reach out :)

Elon Musk’s xAI just officially announced the company’s Series B funding round, raising a whopping $6B from major investors to challenge OpenAI and other competitors in the AI race. 💡 The record-setting Series B funding round values the company at $24B post-money, just a year after its launch in July of 2023. 💡 xAI said the funds will be used to ‘bring the company’s first products to market, build out advanced infrastructure, and accelerate R&D’. 💡 The company is also hiring across its engineering and research division, with a reported pay higher than other competitors. 💡 The startup is also reportedly planning to build its own AI supercomputer by fall 2025, which would require 100,000 of Nvidia's H100 chips. Elon Musk just predicted that AGI is coming next year — and now armed with a huge war chest, xAI can secure the compute necessary to continue scaling. The biggest winner of the announcement is Nvidia, who’ll be more than happy to provide the shovels for Elon’s AI gold rush. #ai #technology #xai https://x.ai/blog/series-b
