📢 Exciting News! Microsoft is making a historic investment in Sweden with a $3.2 billion (SEK 33.7 billion) boost to expand cloud and AI infrastructure. Over the next two years, this investment will deploy 20,000 advanced GPUs across data centers in Sandviken, Gävle, and Staffanstorp. 🔥In addition, Microsoft is committed to upskilling 250,000 Swedes in AI through various technical training and vocational programs. To guide these efforts, the company is establishing an AI Insights Council, bringing together leaders from academia, business, and the public sector. 🔥Sustainability is a priority, with Swedish data centers powered by 100% fossil-free energy and innovative water conservation measures. Microsoft is also investing in nearly 1,000 MW of renewable energy production, including a hybrid wind and solar project set to be operational by 2025. 🔥This investment underscores Microsoft's confidence in Sweden's potential as a leading player in the AI era, aiming to drive economic growth and foster responsible AI innovation. ❗ Google reports a 48% increase in greenhouse gas emissions in 2023 compared to 2019. The figure was posted as part of Google's 2024 environmental report, in which Google was quick to state that the increased emissions are "due to increasing energy demands from the greater intensity of AI computing."
