Looking back on four intense yet inspiring days, we want to extend a big THANK YOU to all visitors. As INNOTRANS 2024 draws global attention to the latest rail innovations, Germany’s Deutsche Bahn (DB) and rail infrastructure face heightened criticism. Aging infrastructure, high prices, and slow project timelines have eroded the country’s global reputation as a leader in engineering. With global competitors like China setting new benchmarks for efficiency, speed, and affordability, Germany must act to restore its standing as the world’s preeminent hub of engineering excellence. I must admit that the presence of many Chinese companies at INNOTRANS did not fail to impress me. State of the art presentations and modern booths with multimedia at its best. Germany’s current rail challenges extend beyond delays and high prices; they strike at the core of the nation’s identity as a global leader in engineering and precision. To restore this legacy, Deutsche Bahn and the broader rail network must undergo rapid transformation, embracing innovation, sustainability, and speed at every level. On a personal note it is a shame and embarrassment when you have visitors from oversees and you are experiencing smelly trainstations, overpriced coffee shops and parkings, messy and dirty public areas....the list can go on. #Innotrans2024   Connections, exchanges, and collaboration were the defining themes of our second day at InnoTrans!   The morning kicked off with an insightful conference on CSR and the decarbonization of the railway industry, hosted by Jean de la Chapelle, Patrick Jeantet, Bertrand Gryspeert, and Nicolas GROULT.   Presentation key takeaways: 💡 CSR is a strategic imperative for the railway sector, driven by its three ESG pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance. These dimensions are critical to meeting evolving European regulations and the growing expectations of stakeholders. 💡 Collaboration and standardization of CSR frameworks are essential, especially to support small and medium-sized enterprises in adapting to these challenges. 💡 To succeed collectively, the industry must unite under the leadership of the FIF, positioning railway as the most sustainable mode of transportation.   In the afternoon, Pascal Lullier and Christophe Chassagnette showcased some of our major projects, illustrating our strength as a systems integrator, capable of managing every aspect of infrastructure—using the Manila Metro as an example of our expertise.   We wrapped up the day with a client event, where our collaborators and clients mingled over a lively cocktail party, celebrating the successes of the day. 🎉   #ColasRail #Berlin #Fair #Railway #OnTrackForASustainableFuture #CSR

𝐄𝐏𝐅 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐳 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐔-𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨 #InnoTrans2024 EPF had the pleasure of participating in the EU-Rail train journey to Berlin for InnoTrans 2024. 🚆 As part of the event, we organised an interactive quiz that brought together experts from across Europe’s rail sector. The quiz featured 19 questions on topics such as: accessibility, passenger rights, innovation, and cross-border rail travel. With a fun, collaborative format, the quiz encouraged teamwork and sparked meaningful discussion on key passenger-focused challenges. I’m thrilled to be in Berlin for InnoTrans 2024, and I couldn’t help but marvel at the city’s impressive public transport network. The marvel is certainly enhanced when exploring the U-Bahn in an open tray. it's an impressive mix of modalities, and active transport options. Some key features and facts that make Berlin’s transport system stand out: U-Bahn (Subway) Established: 1902 Lines: 10 Stations: 173 Total Length: 146 kilometers S-Bahn (Urban Railway) Established: 1924 Lines: 15 Stations: 166 Total Length: 340 kilometers Tram & Metrotram Established: 1865 (Horse-drawn), 1881 (Electric) Lines: 22 (9 Metrotram, 13 Tram) Total Length: 194 kilometers Ferry Lines Established: 1896 Lines: 6 (e.g., F10: Wannsee ↔ Alt-Kladow, F11: Wilhelmstrand ↔ Baumschulenstraße) Unique Feature: Some ferries are rowboats, offering a charming way to cross the waterways. 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 In January 2024 TULIPS – Green Airports WP6 led by Anne Rademaker and Sara Solis initiated a working group related to applying circular economy principles at EU airports. Together with sister consortia OLGA Project Stargate - EU Green Deal, ALIGHT and ACI EUROPE (representing more than 500 airports in 55 countries), the group has been meeting periodically to exchange outcomes of pilots, insights and templates related to: - Baseline assessments - Reuse materials during construction - Track and trace module - Marketplace airport assets or equipment - Biodigestor - Circular Procurement practices  - Related legislation and certification - Airport metabolism framework - Monitoring framework for airports - Stakeholder engagement During the 5th working group session on 02 December the group was also joined by Aeroporti di Roma which has already significantly advanced in integrating in the implementation of circular principles in their airport operations and many ambitious plans to continue the work. All together the working group is home to some of Europe's most progressive airports on circularity including Royal Schiphol Group, Brussels Airport AEROPORTS DE PARIS and Copenhagen Airports A/S as innovation leaders. Together these airports are currently planning a micro conference on circular airport operations to take place at Schiphol Airport in Spring 2025.
