Menopause isn't just about the end of natural childbearing; it can trigger health issues like heart disease and osteoporosis due to lower estrogen levels, yet the underlying cellular and genetic mechanisms are poorly understood due to neglected research in women's reproductive health. The newly established NUS Bia-Echo Asia Centre for Reproductive Longevity and Equality (ACRLE), in collaboration with Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory (TLL), aims to fill this gap. ACRLE seeks to identify biomarkers for reproductive decline, understand ovarian aging, and optimize women's reproductive health span through targeted interventions. TLA is looking forward to the groundbreaking discoveries and positive impact that the collaboration between ACRLE, TLL, and other research partners will bring to women's reproductive health. https://lnkd.in/g9RQv43w

🚀 A Breakthrough in Reproductive Health? 🚀 Exciting new research: early results from the Vibrant (Validating Benefits of Rapamycin for Reproductive Aging Treatment) study suggest that the drug rapamycin could extend women’s fertility by up to five years and potentially improve overall health and longevity. This research, led by Professor Yousin Suh and Dr. Zev Williams at Columbia University, marks a significant shift in how we approach menopause and ovarian ageing. 🧬 Key Findings: - Rapamycin, an immunosuppressant, might slow ovarian ageing, delay menopause, and reduce age-related disease risks. - Early results show a 20% reduction in ovary ageing with minimal side effects. - Participants have reported improvements in health, memory, energy levels, and skin and hair quality. While these findings are promising, they also raise important questions: 🔍 Are We Medicalising Women’s Health? Is delaying menopause truly beneficial, or are we overlooking the value of embracing natural life stages? Many women find they love their post-menopausal years. 🤔 What About Long-Term Implications? The study is still in its early stages. We need to explore whether the benefits of extending fertility outweigh potential risks and whether this intervention addresses the root causes of age-related health issues. 💬 What do people think? Is extending fertility and delaying menopause a game-changer for women’s health, or should we focus on enhancing the quality of life during all stages of ageing? https://lnkd.in/dGWa846v #Rapamycin #MenopauseResearch #Fertility #WomenHealth #MedicalInnovation #Aging #HealthResearch

Understanding the Critical Role of AMH in Women's Health 🌺 🤱 Did you know? In females, AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone) is produced by developing follicles. At birth, women have between 0.5 and 1 million oocytes in the form of primordial follicles. By age 50, this number drops to almost zero, with only 0.1% of these follicles developing into a fertilisable egg. As follicles develop into antral follicles, they can be measured by transvaginal ultrasonography to estimate ovarian reserve. However, this method can be subjective and dependent on the sonographer's expertise. AMH closely correlates with antral follicle count and offers a more objective measure without requiring specialized equipment or highly trained staff, which has led to its increased use in recent years. 🔬 Applications of AMH: ✔ IVF: High AMH levels are linked to the intensity of ovarian response, oocyte yield, and live birth rates. It plays a crucial role in guiding ovarian stimulation medication to avoid ovarian hyperstimulation. ✔ PCOS: High AMH levels in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) have been associated with a lower chance of responding to treatments like laparoscopic ovarian drilling. ✔ Ongoing Research: The implementation of AMH as a biomarker is growing rapidly, with further research exploring its potential uses, such as in predicting menopause. As the understanding and use of AMH continue to evolve, it remains a powerful tool in women's health, offering valuable insights into fertility and reproductive health. #WomensHealth #AMH #Fertility #IVF #PCOS #HealthcareInnovation #LepziLtd #ReproductiveHealth #OvarianReserve #Menopause #MedicalResearch #Biomarkers #HealthcareTechnology #ClinicalDiagnostics #Gynecology #WomensHealthCare #AMHTesting #OvarianHealth #InnovationInHealthcare #IVFSuccess #FertilityAwareness #PCOSTreatment For more information, visit our website 🌍 www.lepzi.com or contact us at 📧 enquiries@lepzi.com.

March marks Endometriosis Awareness Month—a time dedicated to shedding light on a condition that affects millions of individuals worldwide. Endometriosis is a chronic and often debilitating reproductive health disorder where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. Despite its prevalence, endometriosis remains widely misunderstood, underscoring the importance of education and awareness. Why is it crucial that we educate people about endometriosis? Firstly, because awareness leads to early diagnosis and intervention. Far too many individuals suffer in silence for years before receiving a proper diagnosis, enduring excruciating pain and debilitating symptoms. By raising awareness, we empower individuals to recognise the signs and symptoms of endometriosis and seek medical help sooner. Furthermore, education is essential for dispelling myths and misconceptions surrounding endometriosis. It’s not just “bad periods” or “normal menstrual cramps.” Endometriosis can significantly impact quality of life, affecting everything from fertility and relationships to mental health and daily activities. So, how can we help? As allies and advocates, there are several ways we can support those affected by endometriosis: Create safe spaces for individuals to share their experiences without judgment. Validate their pain and struggles, and offer empathy and support. Use your platform to raise awareness about endometriosis. Share informative resources, personal stories, and educational content to help dispel stigma and increase understanding. Advocate for improved healthcare practices and policies surrounding endometriosis. Encourage healthcare providers to receive training in recognising and treating endometriosis effectively. Support organisations and initiatives dedicated to researching endometriosis, developing better treatments, and ultimately finding a cure. Fortunately, there are organisations and resources available to provide support and assistance to individuals living with endometriosis: • The Endometriosis Foundation of America : Dedicated to increasing disease recognition, providing advocacy, and fostering scientific research. • The Endometriosis Association Committed to providing education, support, and research funding for individuals affected by endometriosis. • Endometriosis UK: Offers support services, information, and resources for individuals in the UK living with endometriosis. By coming together as a community, we can help raise awareness, improve support systems, and ultimately improve the quality of life for individuals living with endometriosis. Let’s stand in solidarity with those affected and work towards a future where endometriosis is widely understood, effectively treated, and where all individuals receive the support and care they deserve. #EndometriosisAwarenessMonth #Endometriosis #Awareness #Support #Education #Advocacy #Empathy #Healthcare #Community #Solidarity

A common drug, rapamycin, is showing promising potential for extending female fertility, delaying menopause, and improving overall health and longevity in women. Originally developed as an immunosuppressant for organ transplant patients, rapamycin has recently garnered attention in the field of antiaging medicine due to its unique effects at different dosages. Dr. Zev Williams, Director of Columbia University Fertility Center, explained to *Newsweek* that while rapamycin at high doses is used to suppress the immune system to prevent organ rejection, at lower doses, it can actually enhance the immune system and slow the aging process across various animal models. This antiaging effect is believed to be linked to rapamycin’s ability to activate autophagy, a cellular process that recycles and removes accumulated cellular debris, which typically builds up with age. By promoting autophagy, rapamycin may help slow down or even reverse some aspects of the aging process. One particularly exciting area of research focuses on rapamycin's impact on the ovaries, which play a crucial role in female fertility. The ovaries age faster than most other organs, and the decline in their function leads to reduced fertility and menopause. By potentially delaying these processes, rapamycin could extend the reproductive lifespan of women and delay menopause, offering significant benefits for women's health and longevity. While more research is needed, the implications of these findings are profound, suggesting that rapamycin could be a key player in the future of antiaging therapies, especially concerning female reproductive health.
