COMMENTARY: Biden’s EV Mandate: A Dictatorial Attack on the American Driver and the US Grid – Alex Epstein https://hubs.la/Q02tDTxD0 The de facto EV mandate will force Americans to drive inferior cars and place massive new demand for reliable electricity on a grid that is declining in reliable electricity supply. #evs #electricvehicles #energy #politics #bidenadministration #joebiden

When you drive an #EV, you don't need to pay for gas (obviously). So how do #EV owners contribute to road repairs? It's complicated. Certain provinces like Alberta have taken to a flat fee method, but this isn't necessarily the best approach. Some drivers will end up paying too little while others pay too much (someone who drives more than average gets a deal, while someone who drives very little overpays). And then there's the issue about vehicle weight. Should someone driving a Hummer EV be paying the same as someone who drives a Nissan Leaf? Both #EVs, but one doesn't contribute to the wear and tear of the other. One thing is for sure though, as an #EV owner I would suggest getting used to the fact eventually we'll need to pay our fair share to help maintain the roads we drive on one way or another. I think it should shift to mileage and weight-based protocol for ALL vehicles. Registration fees already (or can) take gross vehicle weight into account so what’s needed is a mileage-based fee that’s paid with annual vehicle registration.

The costs comparison between EVs and gas vehicles are not just purchasing price differences or electricity vs gas, because EVs have other higher costs than gas vehicles, such as maintenance costs, costs to repair, costs to replace batteries, high insurance premium.... If people setup charging facility at home, that's also an extra cost. These are just costs, not mentioning fire hazard from battery, battery performance issue ...

EVs save you more than just fuel. When you drive electric, you skip the pump and slash your costs. In fact, EV owners save thousands on fuel and maintenance. No more oil changes or pricey gas station visits. The upfront cost might be higher, but long-term savings make it worth it. Plus, many governments offer tax incentives to sweeten the deal. Going green is easier on your wallet than you think! Ready to start saving? P.S. Let me know if you’re considering an EV!

A stove that serves as a capacitor/battery to provide power back to the house at peak demand or in case of an outage, or can sell power back to the grid when it makes sense. A logical and savvy idea in view of the need to replace millions of gas stoves in the US over the next 10 years.
