Aramco Signs three MOUs with US Firms to achieve net zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions across its wholly-owned operated assets by 2050. The MoUs signed by Aramco include: Aeroseal Following a successful trial of Aeroseal’s technology in Saudi Arabia, Aramco and Aeroseal agreed to explore opportunities to accelerate the deployment of Aeroseal’s technology in the company’s building fleet and elsewhere; pursue joint testing of building ductwork and envelopes nationwide to uncover the most prominent opportunities; commercialize the technology in novel applications such as gas pipelines; and localize Aeroseal’s supply chain in Saudi Arabia. Spiritus With Spiritus, Aramco agreed to explore opportunities in the field of direct air capture. Spiritus’ novel approach to direct air capture could address the major cost challenges of current direct air capture approaches and includes reducing energy needs, passive air collection, and a proprietary sorbent material to potentially remove carbon from the atmosphere at up to a tenfold increase in adsorption efficiency compared to existing methods. Rondo Aramco and Rondo agreed to explore deployment of heat batteries in Aramco’s global facilities to reduce operating costs and support emissions reduction initiatives. The companies have started engineering studies for a first industrial scale deployment of Rondo Heat Batteries that could contribute to reduction of emissions from Aramco facilities, with subsequent scale up to 1GWh. I’m truly delighted to share the news that we have signed a supply contract with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's seawater desalination facilities for Techwin's equipment, capable of simultaneously producing 12% NaOCl and hydrogen. This may potentially be the first resource recycling project in the Middle East to produce both disinfectants and hydrogen simultaneously. We are committed to doing our utmost to develop and scale the technologies our customers need. #OSHG #Hydrogen #NaOCl #Desalination

Bapetco Carries Out Innovative Procedures for Emissions Reduction, Saving Fuel. The Production and Maintenance teams at Badr Eldin Petroleum Company (BAPETCO) have successfully implemented creative ideas helped in reducing the fuel consumptions by 1,825,000 liters per year and carbon emissions by 11,700 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent annually at Alam El Shawish fields in the Western Desert. The teamwork successfully collected the electrical energy sources (electric generators) of a group of six wells having nine diesel generators into only two generators with a capacity of 1 megawatt. This led to reducing diesel consumption from 3,000 liters per day to 2,000 liters per day and reducing the cost of renting generators. The work team at the main Al-Bahga station also succeeded in collecting the electrical energy sources (electric generators) and saving diesel fuel consumption at a rate of 1,460,000 liters per year, and reducing emissions from flare gas by 6,300 tons of carbon dioxide annually. #emissions #emissiontech #Electrification #Oil #Carbon

Thanks to all the Colleagues who attended 2024 SPE WLCM Conference & Exhibition in Abu Dhabi energy Center, it has been a good time to touch base to discuss on how to establish a more efficient and sustainable water management. As part of the organizing committee, I received multiple feedbacks from attendees highlighting the good quality of the conference and, to explain this I could use the word "Focus" to explain the success of this conference since this first-of-a-kind conference in UAE united key people on one single major challenge which is how to get the best out from the water in the energy industry. Great plenary sessions and technical papers were presented revolving many subjects but I will underline just 3 of them: 1. Artificial Intelligence: deep learning and neural networks couple with physics models. 2. Utilizing the heat wasted in the operations: to generate electricity which can help to improve economics and to lower emissions. Here I collaborated with my Colleague Sergey Ryzhov who presented the paper SPE-218989 where we highlighted the opportunity to utilize the abundant heat resource available in the industry through application of organic rankine cycle. 3. Driving the 3 R's of reduce, reuse and recycle: Good discussions about techniques applied mainly in the MENA and SEA regions to reduce the water production downhole in the wells. Thanks to #ADNOC and #spe and all the integration and hard work to make this first edition happen!
