Suicide Prevention Week serves as a crucial opportunity to highlight the significance of promoting better mental health care. Although often viewed as taboo, mental health is extremely important for workers in the construction industry, where suicide rates exceed those of the general U.S. population by more than four times. By increasing awareness and offering support, we can all help reach those in need and save lives. #BuildingTogether

Please spread the word about the 988 Lifeline and also please remember: You may be the only light someone sees today. *Act with Kindness - Here’s the key, without expectation of something in return. Hold the door b/c you want to hold the door, not b/c you’re expecting gratitude or praise in return. (And also, if you are receiving the random act of kindness, try to remember to say “Thank You.”) *Extend Grace – to yourself and to others. No one is perfect. Everyone has a bad day. The person who didn’t return your smile or say “Thank You” may be grieving a loved one, worried about how they’re going to pay today’s bills or experiencing another form of internal chaos. *Connect – Smile and look people in their eyes. Get to know your neighbors, coworkers and others with whom you regularly interact. Be curious. Ask questions and actually listen to the response. Leaders, take a couple minutes each week to connect with your direct reports or employees. Five minutes with two or three people each day is only 10-15 minutes of your day and will likely reach your entire team each week. Your team is a group of individuals, all of whom need to feel valued as such. And for my friends struggling…It’s okay to not be okay. You are worth the fight. "I'm not okay But it's all gonna be alright It's not okay But we're all gonna be alright" -“I Am Not Okay” Song by Jelly Roll #Kindness #connection #Leadership

Suicide Prevention Week is a crucial time to unite and raise awareness about mental health, emphasizing that help is within reach and hope is tangible. Millions grapple with mental health challenges annually, yet numerous individuals endure silently due to stigma and misunderstanding. Let's collaborate this week to dismantle these barriers, encourage open dialogues, and reassure one another that it's acceptable to not feel okay. A small gesture can make a significant impact if you suspect someone is struggling—whether it's a kind word, a listening ear, or guiding them towards support. Together, we can cultivate a culture where mental health is prioritized as much as physical health, ensuring every individual feels valued and supported. Advocating for awareness, fostering empathy, and reassuring those in need that they are not alone is paramount. Community support is powerful, and collectively, we have the capacity to save lives. #SuicidePreventionWeek #MentalHealthMatters #BeTheLight
