🌟 Happy National Children’s Day! 🌟 Today, we celebrate the magic of childhood—the giggles, the wonder, the endless “why’s,” and the unstoppable creativity that remind us of life’s truest joys. Children show us what it means to explore the world with love, curiosity, and boundless imagination. But as we celebrate their magic, let’s also ask ourselves: What kind of future do we want to create for our children? Through our Child Futures PlayHub, we’re exploring this question with intention. In a world increasingly shaped by technology, it’s vital that we nurture not only digital skills but also empathy, love, and human connection. These qualities are the essence of childhood, humanity and the foundation of a thriving future. Our mission is to ensure that children grow up in a world where technology enhances their lives without replacing the human experiences that define us—play, exploration, creativity, love and connection. By asking what makes us quintessentially human, we can guide the choices we make today to build a brighter, more compassionate tomorrow for all children. Here’s to dreaming, playing, and building brighter tomorrows—for our children and with them!

HAPPY CHILDREN’S DAY Celebrating children’s day on November 14 is a beautiful way to honor the essence of life itself, as children represent hope, joy, and the continuity of humanity. Children are the embodiment of life’s purest form, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and wonder into our world. By celebrating them, we celebrate life itself and the ongoing cycle. This Children’s Day, as we celebrate the potential and promise of every child, let us not turn a blind eye to those who remain unseen—those out of school, malnourished, laboring in hardship. Who are we truly celebrating today? Not just the fortunate few, but every child whose life and dreams are sacred. Our commitment must go beyond mere celebration. We must stand with those who have been left behind, working tirelessly to make every child’s life valued and supported by society. This means moving past student-centered learning to build a life-centered society where every child counts, where empathy is taught not just as a lesson but as a way of life. Let us make empathy part of our core curriculum, planting the seeds of compassion and responsibility in young hearts. Let us engage year-round in sensitizing our children to the lives of those less privileged, teaching values that reach beyond textbooks. It’s time to create a national curriculum of action, one that fosters justice, inclusivity, and collective responsibility. This Children’s Day, may we not just celebrate, but commit—to a future where every child finds hope, dignity, and opportunity. A society where each child’s life is supreme. Dr. Farooq wasil

If childhood is described as "life in movement" (Kohan, 2005, p. 253), and we as teachers strive to create more opportunities for children to take a leading role—recognizing them as active creators of culture—how can we better understand their perspectives, temporalities, and engagement in play fighting within the daily experiences of early childhood education? Please take a look at this article about my thesis and discover more about the children’s voices. https://lnkd.in/ePTT5tiN

As we celebrate #WorldTeachersDay2024, let's highlight and appreciate the exceptional role of educators in assisting students to reintegrate into the academic environment following a concussion, a role that goes beyond traditional teaching and genuinely impacts the student's life and academic success. Teachers not only instruct on academic subjects but also play a vital role in students' overall well-being. After a concussion, a common type of traumatic brain injury often caused by a blow to the head, students may face challenges such as memory problems, difficulty concentrating, or other cognitive impairments. They may also experience emotional changes like mood swings or depression. In such scenarios, a teacher's role becomes crucial in recognising these symptoms, providing support, adjustment in teaching methods, and creating a conducive learning environment for the students to make a smooth transition back to their school life. https://lnkd.in/eDRjSMsS @aitsl

Here’s one key takeaway that hit me and Gosia Jaros-White hard as we headed back home after attending the National Summer Learning Association Summit this week: there’s no time for despair or fear. The challenges our kids face are real, but so is our collective power to overcome them. Yup, it’s time to exercise radical collaboration. We must mobilize passionately, tearing down silos and working together to create a future where all kids—regardless of their circumstances—can thrive. The positive energy at the summit was undeniable. For three days leaders, educators, policymakers, and advocates came together with one mission: to ensure every child has access to learning, opportunities, and fun. When we collaborate boldly and with purpose, we can eliminate barriers and inspire lasting change. It starts with showing up, speaking out, and taking action for the kids who need us the most. Here’s how: https://lnkd.in/eWpnJ6KF

Ten points if you know what these pens *actually* are.... These are vapes. They encourage schoolchildren to evade being caught by parents and teachers. We desperately need to get to grips with the risks of vaping and how so many young people in our region are taking it up, unaware of the dangers. Why is this relevant to our work at Yellow Jigsaw CIC? Well, we believe in the power of peer to peer communications. It is much more effective for 15-year-old Kenny to hear about the realities of vaping from his mate Chris than hearing it from a parent, a teacher or a local public health professional. That's why we'll be working with our young reporters at Media Cubs to explore how they can learn the facts and communicate them to their mates. We will be running free-to-attend Summer clubs and workshops across Manchester for young people to learn new media skills and to put them into action on important topics like this. Grown ups: drop me a line if you have any young people or professionals who want to get involved 💪
