Clearview AI, a facial recognition technology company, has been instrumental in helping law enforcement agencies identify criminals involved in child sexual abuse cases, using only suspects’ photos. By scanning its vast database of facial images, Clearview AI allows authorities to match perpetrators’ images with publicly available online photos, leading to successful identification and arrests. Despite its effectiveness in fighting crime, the company has sparked privacy concerns due to its collection of facial data from various online platforms without consent. Clearview AI is like a knife — depending on who uses it, it can either be a dangerous invasion of privacy or a powerful tool in the hands of law enforcement, aiding in the rescue of missing children and the capture of dangerous criminals involved in heinous activities. #ClearviewAI #FacialRecognition #Cybersecurity #PrivacyConcerns #ChildRescue #LawEnforcement #TechForGood #AI

Collaboration between law enforcement and private tech companies is key to tackling online scams. For example, in the UK, the City of London Police partnered with the private sector to develop the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), which uses AI to analyze vast amounts of data and identify fraudulent patterns. By integrating similar AI solutions globally, we can detect suspicious activities in real-time and protect citizens from fraud. This joint effort ensures that our digital world remains secure and trustworthy. #AI #CyberCrime #PublicPrivatePartnerships #DigitalSafety #Innovation #FraudPrevention

VERIFICATION is surveillance. Sure, sure, platforms *cough* like this *cough* will insist that verifying your identity keeps the community safe. And yet we know that black, brown, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, women, mentally ill, and disabled people have NEVER been safe—online or off—and in fact the few gains made in the last 40-50 regarding civil rights in the US years are completely unraveling. And that nifty face-scanner at airports? To "improve security". You can absolutely opt out. Just have the security person look at your id and your face. That's literally all they have to do. It's NBD. Scanning your face proves nothing. Also, apps that *strongly suggest* you verify as a way for people to vet one another: is this person REALLY a strategic unicorn and master storyteller or are they just an AI-bot created fake? I know. YOU have "nothing to hide". You're not a criminal. That defense illustrates that you don't understand how survillance technology serves ONE master, and it's not citizen safety. Surveillance has one purpose: Protecting capital. That means it protects the wealthy ruling class and its assets, its capital. To be sure, that ruling class absolutely considers you its capital. You exist as a human "resource", to be exploited. You have value only inasmuch as you produce more wealth for the ruling class. OPT OUT of this digital gatekeeping and surveillance wherever and whenever you can! Don't buy into the myth that "verified" accounts mean anything other than a means of keeping the haves having and the have-nots NOT HAVING. Here's another angle to consider: Every time you "verify" or blithely accept digital scanning technology, you help to usher in surveillance tech that will disproportionately negatively affect marginalized members of the community. It doesn't *just* affect you. Refusing digital gatekeeping and suveillance tech a pretty low-risk form of activism that I invite all my white-collar colleagues who care about equity to seriously consider. We take care of us. P.S. Also, please for the love of goddess, upgrade your passwords. P.P.S. I know this image is *not exactly* the point, and yet, it kind of IS the point!
