**Hunger doesn't care about your zip code.** With the rising cost of living and inflation affecting everyone, food insecurity has become a critical issue, particularly for the 1.9 million adults and children in Massachusetts who represent 1 in 3 households. The increasing prices of essential goods have made it significantly harder for families to afford nutritious food, pushing many to seek help from food agencies and community resources. As one of the four food banks in Massachusetts, Merrimack Valley Food Bank, Inc. partners with over 100 food agencies across 33 communities. Together, we are working tirelessly to provide emergency food assistance to those in need. However, the demand for healthy food continues to stretch our resources. To ensure that everyone has access to the nutritious food they need to thrive, we need your help. 💪 Here’s what you can do: *Donate to Merrimack Valley Food Bank and help feed 80,000 each month *Host a food drive with family, friends, or your company. *Volunteer your time. *Raise Awareness about the growing need and encourage others to get involved. No amount is too small to address this urgent issue and make a tangible difference in our communities. Fasting to raise awareness for children’s hunger | Day 3: Today starts the 48-hour fast. 2 days is a long time without food. I’ve done a lot of 48-hour fasts before, and it helps to have friends do it with you or just supporting you through it (and keeping you honest). Surrounding yourself with energetic, positive people is a great way to help yourself get through any challenge. I try to remember: families are going hungry out of necessity. They’re not surrounded by people cheering them on. They’re facing food insecurity daily, in every county, in every state in the U.S. They shouldn’t have to. Spread the word 📣 about food insecurity and children’s hunger. — Ways you can get involved: 1. Donate or volunteer at a local food bank like Feeding America 2. Health-permitting, fast along with me. We’re doing a 1-day fast, a 2-day fast, and a 3-day fast in the first ten days of April. 3. Spread the word! Raise awareness about children’s hunger and food insecurity in the United States. Because no child deserves to go hungry. #fasting #hunger #feedingflorida

Understanding Food Insecurity Food insecurity refers to the lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. In Manatee County, various factors contribute to food insecurity, including: · Economic Challenges: Unemployment, underemployment, and low wages can make it difficult for families to afford enough food. · Housing Costs: High housing costs can leave little room in budgets for food. · Limited Access: In some areas, there might be a lack of nearby grocery stores or transportation options, limiting access to fresh, affordable food. Resources and Support The Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program operates year round supporting our local food pantries and reaching out into the community to provide meals. How You Can Help: https://lnkd.in/eVu4xfXe · Donate Food · Volunteer · Monetary Donations · Raise Awareness: Share information about food insecurity and the Mayors’ Feed the Hungry program to help those in need connect with support.

What Are Food Recovery Organizations (FROs)? Food recovery groups are like hidden helpers in the battle against hunger and wasted food. They work hard to gather extra food from places like grocery stores, restaurants, and other sources, and then give it to people who require it. By saving good food that would otherwise be thrown away, they help fight hunger and also lessen the harm to the environment caused by wasted food. These groups are very important for making communities stronger and more sustainable. They bring together businesses, charities, and volunteers to create a support system that helps everyone. How Can You Help Food Recovery Groups? 1. Give money: Support them by giving money to cover their expenses and reach more people. 2. Help out: Volunteer by sorting food, packing boxes, or delivering meals to those who need them. 3. Share their message: Post about their work on social media and encourage others to join in. 4. Reduce food waste at home: Plan your meals, store food correctly, and compost leftover food. Let's join forces to build a fairer and more sustainable food system. #foodrecovery #sustainability #foodwaste #hungerrelief #socialimpact
