Superhero has slashed share trading brokerage fees to just $2 a trade. It's able to do so by leveraging FinClear's custodial system. "When a client makes a trade, Superhero lodges it with FinClear which registers trades throughout the day...FinClear settles all trades with the ASX at the end of the day, only paying for example two CHESS movement fees per stock (buy and sell) rather than each individual HIN trade." As John Winters explains, "FinClear operates under strict regulatory conditions that require it to hold regulatory capital...the custodial model can be beneficial for consumers, allowing businesses to pass through scale efficiencies." Just another example of how competition and alternative providers (to the ASX) can lower fees and create efficiencies for our national finfrastructure.
