Next Friday is Matariki Day in New Zealand. In Māori culture, Matariki is the Pleiades star cluster and a celebration of its first rising in late June or early July. The rising marks the beginning of the new year in the Māori lunar calendar. What does this mean for power consumption? The holiday is on a Friday, making it a three-day weekend. As workplaces ramp down for the long weekend, Thursday’s evening demand will be lower as it would for a Friday. Sunday’s evening peak demand is also much higher as Kiwis prepare for the work week. TESLA Forecasts not only account for the Matariki Day holiday but also the surrounding days, including the Thursday before and the Monday after. Are holidays important to your load forecast? 🚀 Exploring Life Expectancy Differences Across Japan 🌸 Japan is renowned for its high life expectancy, but did you know that significant variations exist between its regions? 🗾 📊 Key Observations: Okinawa has long been celebrated for its centenarians, with many living well into their 90s and beyond. In contrast, some urban areas like Osaka and Tokyo show slightly lower life expectancies. 🔍 Factors Influencing These Differences: Diet: Okinawans benefit from a traditional diet rich in vegetables, tofu, and fish, while urban diets may include more processed foods. Lifestyle: Rural areas often have strong community ties and active lifestyles. In contrast, city living can be more stressful and sedentary. Environmental Factors: Clean air and natural surroundings in rural areas contribute to better health outcomes compared to the pollution and fast-paced environment of cities. Understanding these factors can help us make informed choices about our own health and wellness. 🌿 What other factors do you think might influence these regional differences in life expectancy? 💪 THE IMPACT OF PASSENGER NUMBERS AT JAPANESE STATIONS [IKEBUKURO EDITION] 💪 We have previously discussed how Japan has developed around its railway system. Now, let's delve into the actual numbers to understand the scale of this impact. 📈 IMPRESSIVE FIGURES OF JR IKEBUKURO STATION 📈 JR Ikebukuro Station is a major terminal station, with approximately 450,000 passengers boarding trains each day (※1). Globally, it ranks 3rd after Shinjuku and Shibuya stations. However, in the JR East network alone, Ikebukuro ranks 2nd. Annually, the number of passengers using JR Ikebukuro Station totals about 164.25 million, comparable to Russia's population of 144 million, making it clear just how impactful this station is. ✨ KEY FEATURES ✨ 1️⃣ Ikebukuro is one of the most densely populated areas in Tokyo, alongside Shinjuku and Shibuya. The area surrounding Ikebukuro Station is a bustling commercial hub, featuring department stores, major electronics retailers, and attractions like an aquarium. 2️⃣ The east side of the station is home to a district rich in Japanese pop culture, offering a wide range of anime merchandise. Ikebukuro caters to everything from business to leisure, making it a microcosm of urban life. 3️⃣ Furthermore, Ikebukuro serves as a critical interchange for several other railway lines. Tokyo Metro (※2), Seibu Railway (※3), and Tobu Railway (※4) all report that Ikebukuro is their busiest station in terms of passenger numbers, highlighting its role as a major transit hub within Tokyo. ※1: JR East Official Website 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gW6jtpeW ※2: Tokyo Metro Official Website 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g7tqjpVT ※3: Seibu Railway Official Website 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gTdpUMMN ※4: Tobu Railway Official Website 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gEg_xeNm #Ikebukuro #jeki #JREast #MASTRUM #IndustryInsights #IndustryTrends #Innovation

Refer my article this week @ Sunday Times on "From Growth to Happiness: Crafting Policies for a Thriving and Content Nation" Below is the summary of the article .. Gross National Happiness (GNH) offers a holistic alternative to traditional metrics like Gross National Product (GNP), emphasizing well-being, social development, and sustainability alongside economic progress. Introduced by Bhutan, GNH blends economic and moral dimensions, with Nordic countries leading global happiness rankings. Sri Lanka, ranked 128th, must prioritize collective happiness to achieve sustainable development. Leveraging its strategic location, skilled human capital, and Buddhist heritage that values true happiness, the nation can implement visionary policies for long-term growth, balancing economic advancements with the well-being of its people and creating a prosperous future. refer the link to article https://lnkd.in/gA29437U

Another anniversary today – my trip to Bhutan back in 2019. As I look back on that journey, I feel so grateful for the wild experiences and the interesting people and cultures I encountered there. One of the most remarkable aspects of traveling is how it broadens our thoughts and connects us with people from different walks of life. In Bhutan, despite language barriers, we found moments of connection and understanding through sign language, smiles and humour. Despite our differences in culture and language, there was a sense of connection that transcended borders. It was a beautiful reminder of the universal bonds that unites us as women, regardless of where we come from. Bhutan itself, with its deeply rooted Buddhist culture, left a lasting impression on me. In addition, the country's commitment to Gross National Happiness, as evidenced by its very own Ministry of Happiness, is something that resonated deeply with me. A powerful reminder that true wealth and fulfilment come not just from material possessions, but from the quality of our relationships, our connection to nature, and our sense of purpose. And speaking of connections, I'm still in touch with @Pema, our guide from Bhutan. He's a friend across the airwaves nearly 5 years later and reminds me of a beautiful experience, in a beautiful land, with a gracious and resilient people. Today reminds me of the positive impact that travel has had on my life. It has not only enriched my understanding of the world but has also deepened my appreciation for the beauty of human connection and the diversity of our shared experiences. Here's to more adventures, more connections, and more moments of growth and discovery. Have you a travel story or experience that has left a lasting impact? Please share, I love hearing about your experiences. #travel #lasting #positiveimpact #crossculture #diversity #inclusion #tedxspeaker

Why Are Malaysians Living Almost a Decade Longer Than Indians? a Malaysian just celebrated his 75th birthday, while here in India, the average lifespan stops at 67. Why are we clocking out 8 years earlier? No, it’s not magic or fate. It’s the choices we make every single day. What Are Malaysians Doing Right? 1. Balanced Diets, Not Just Spices: While we drown our food in oil and carbs, Malaysians focus on fresh produce, balanced meals, and less junk. Their plate is their medicine. 2. Healthcare That Cares: Access to healthcare in Malaysia is easier and more effective. Meanwhile, many Indians still rely on Google before a doctor. 3. Cleaner Living, Literally: Malaysia invests heavily in public health and cleanliness. In contrast, many Indian cities battle pollution and poor sanitation, silently cutting years off our lives. 4. Stress? Handle It: Life’s tough everywhere, but in Malaysia, meditation and active living are mainstream. Stress kills faster than bad food, and Indians are some of the most stressed people. What Can You Do Starting Today? 1/ Fix Your Plate: Every bite is a choice. Add greens, cut the sugar, and go easy on the ghee.ADD 0.8 Gm /kg of protein. 2/ Move More, Stress Less: Walk, jog, dance, or do yoga, gym —just get moving. And for the love of everything, learn to breathe and let go. 3/ See Your Doctor, Not Just God: Preventive check-ups are cheaper than hospital bills. Stop waiting for miracles and start investing in your health. P.S. How many years do you think your lifestyle is adding—or subtracting—from your lifespan?

One of our missions is to help people feel a little bit happier and a little bit healthier....just like saunas in Finland have been doing for centuries. For seven consecutive years, Finland has been named the happiest country in the world. Coincidence? We don't think so.
