Over Bekir: Hello, my name is Bekir Surucu, and I am an experienced shipbuilding engineer originally from Turkey, now based in the Netherlands. My journey in marine engineering is as extensive as my professional background, with over 10 years of cumulative experience in the field. I began my career by studying Shipbuilding at a vocational high school, where early internships provided me with hands-on experience at one of Turkey’s leading shipyards, Sedef Shipyard. Following this, I pursued undergraduate studies in shipbuilding and graduated with distinction. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Shipbuilding and Ocean engineering Engineering from Istanbul Technical University and completed extensive training as an engine cadet on a crude oil tanker, gaining invaluable practical experience. This solid foundation set me on a path to significant roles in both shipyard design and field applications, working with prominent shipyards and engineering firms such as Uzmar and SEFT Engineering. At SEFT, I progressed from a piping and outfitting engineer to a project team leader, managing entire outfitting projects from start to finish. My responsibilities included client coordination, project scheduling, model reviews, and ensuring design compatibility across piping systems, hvac, and cableway. I have expertise in using industry-standard software such as PDMS Aveva, Aveva Paragon, AutoCAD, and Navisworks for advanced modeling and analysis. In 2022, I completed a Master’s degree in Offshore Engineering, where my thesis focused on "Numerical Modeling of Wave-Induced Scour Around a Monopile." Using FLOW-3D software, I conducted advanced modeling and scour analysis, which provided a comprehensive understanding of the hydrodynamic processes involved. Personally, I am driven by continuous learning and practical problem-solving. My technical background in design, construction, and marine operations, combined with strong project management experience, uniquely positions me to contribute effectively to engineering roles in both the shipbuilding and offshore sectors. 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭: Recently I have got an opportunity to visit 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 . This industrial visit is a compulsory part of our graduation. During my industrial visit I explore may things and many departments of carriage factory. Some of them were manufacturing department, production department, drawing and Designing department and final assembling department. 🚀While giving the briefing by the Mechanical engineer there , he mentioned many problems and their solutions about the railway. Many of them were related to material properties, assembling, the beams and wall of coaches. 🚀I was very interested to get to know that how the designing of coaches affect the speed and velocity of engine. The areodynamics has vast affect on the speed of engine.
