Earlier this month, leaders from our Voces Employee Resource Group (ERG) and our recruiting team had the opportunity to talk with attendees at the Society of Hispanic Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHPE) National Convention about: • How we develop Hispanic and Latino employees and their own experiences at Tetra Tech • What it means to be #LeadingWithScience on projects across water, environment, and sustainable infrastructure Our Christine Arbogast, Voces Executive Advisor and Unit President in our solid waste practice, shared, “What a great experience to see the impact of SHPE at their National Convention in Anaheim on young Hispanic engineers fulfilling their dreams in college and joining our work force. “The enthusiasm and readiness of the 15,000 attendees was inspiring and energizing. It was a privilege to represent Tetra Tech’s Voces Employee Resource Group with incredible colleagues sharing our passion for the work we do and to see the interest of our next generation of young professionals in the broad range of services Tetra Tech offers.” We invest in in growing the next generation of leaders because we know our clients’ projects, our company, and the industry as a whole are stronger for it. Let’s go Intersolar 2024! I can’t quite believe that I won’t get to Munich until late Wednesday and will miss all the set up and day one! My FOMO is in overdrive and I really am sad to miss any of it, BUT teenage birthdays and being there for them through major exams is more important to me 🤷♀️ When you have a superstar team around you, these decisions on work/life priorities are easier to make - but making these decisions or “asking permission” shouldn’t be stressful should it? I try to lead by example, always have and if I don’t prioritise the important things in my own life then what example does that set? That it’s not ok to care about something more than work? No way. As my family would tell you, I love the solar industry - to a level the teenagers call weird 😂. But do I love it (and you fabulous lot) more than them? - nope, sorry, don’t be ridiculous, see you Thursday 😉 I couldn’t be more grateful though for Mark Gamble and Nathan Childs who alongside other members of the Solis Europe team help keep the control freak inside me in check. This really is the best week of the year and as someone described it to me - it’s like Christmas in June, there is so much excitement. Like the show itself isn’t enough, I am delighted to be representing the WiSEu Network again. It’s one year since our very first get together and here we are, bigger, better and more diverse. Everything I said above about leading by example is personified in this network with so many inspirational personalities from across the industry involved and leading by example. I look forward to a jam packed couple of days of conversation, debates and laughs with both existing and new industry colleagues and friends. 📍June 19-21: Find me and the team at Solis in Hall B3 🍻😎 📍June 20: Meetup and workshop with WiSEu Network. Enquire below 👇 #intersolar2024 #innovation #solarenergy #weshinetogether #equity #inclusion

Celebrating National World Voice Day: Empowering Young People On National World Voice Day, let's reflect on the significance of giving young people a voice in their own lives. At Athena Care, we implement this philosophy in our everyday practices. Our approach is rooted in theories such as Self-Determination Theory (SDT), which highlights the importance of autonomy and self-expression in promoting well-being and resilience. By empowering young people to voice their thoughts and ideas, we foster a sense of agency and ownership over their lives, aligning with the principles of SDT. Our young people actively participate in meetings, provide input in staff interviews, and make daily choices with the guidance of our supportive staff. They even hold their own board meetings through our Young People's Advisory Board, embodying the principles of participation and empowerment advocated by theorists like Roger Hart and Sherry Arnstein. By incorporating these theories into our everyday practices, we create opportunities for meaningful engagement and collaboration, fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and mutual understanding. Today, let's reaffirm our commitment to promoting understanding, empathy, and active listening, empowering young people to become confident, resilient individuals who are equipped to navigate life's challenges with courage and conviction. #NationalWorldVoiceDay #YouthEmpowerment #SelfDeterminationTheory #Participation #Empowerment #AthenaCare

Earlier this week the First Nations Digital Inclusion Advisory Group, along with the Minister for Communications Hon. Michelle Rowland, launched the long-term First Nations Digital Inclusion Roadmap which outlines the path towards First Nations digital inclusion, and builds on the the initial report and the First Nations Digital Inclusion Plan. The Roadmap provides practical advice to the communications industry and governments on how best to close the digital divide. It draws on advice provided by the Advisory Group and Expert Panel including data and information provided from the many First Nations communities and organisations the group has met and engaged with over the last two years. Congratulations to all members of the FNDIAG and to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts as well as the members of the National Indigenous Australian Agency who contributed to this document. To the people and communities that contributed, thank you and I hope this Roadmap provides guidance on future conversations you may have on what solutions are best suited for your community’s digital needs. Reflecting on the #MCIAlumniConvention last week was truly a nostalgic journey, reuniting with familiar faces and reminiscing about our shared experiences. Yet, amidst the nostalgia, the conversations ignited a deeper sense of purpose, particularly in exploring the intersection of journalism and public service. As journalists, we hold a unique responsibility to the world, extending far beyond reporting the news. Our duty lies in amplifying marginalized voices, uncovering truths, and fostering empathy and understanding. However, it's imperative to widen our scope, to embrace the broader realm of public service, where our skills can catalyze positive change. Whether it's advocating for social justice, promoting environmental sustainability, or championing human rights, our responsibility transcends the newsroom. It's about leveraging our platform and influence to drive meaningful impact, to inspire action, and to empower communities. As we navigate the evolving landscape of media and society, let us embrace this responsibility wholeheartedly, recognizing the immense potential we hold to shape a better world for generations to come. 📸 Kevin Kasoma

Nothing will change without people first making a commitment to work towards change. At AtkinsRéalis, although we already speak over 70 languages and represent 130 nationalities across the world, we are still ambitious in our goals for diversity and inclusion. Our global ED&I program sets out clear objectives and accountability targets to increase diversity even further within the company. Does your organisation have clear targets within it’s ED&I strategy? If not, what could you do to encourage your organisation to commit to change? https://lnkd.in/eEKnhtD2 #InsideAtkinsRéalis #DifferentMakesADifference #TogetherMakesADifference
