Anonymity is not necessary to achieve the legal and financial protections afforded by forming an LLC and often frustrates enforcement efforts. Property owners hide behind LLCs to avoid accountability. It can take years to identify and prove a single person is responsible for repeated violations across multiple businesses – delaying justice, wasting public resources, and driving up costs to the detriment of all Californians. In 2018 and 2019, several states released reports on the civil justice gap. Today's #AccessToWhat data point no. 3 looks at California's 2019 report. "Low-income Californians report that 52% of their civil legal problems affect them very much or severely. Problems related to children and custody (68%), veterans (66%), and income maintenance (64%) are most likely to be classified as having a substantial impact. Legal problems dealing with money in particular are often described as severe by low-income individuals—more than 50% of problems with issues of income, employment, rent, and finances are reported as having a substantial impact." "While all of the problems asked about in the survey could have been legally actionable, legal help was only sought and received for about 3 in 10 of them." Well "Oklahoma is doing it anyway," From Glenn Stanfield: Oklahoma is the only state that Obama did not win even one county in the last election... While everyone is focusing on Arizona ’s new law, look what Oklahoma has been doing!!!! An update from Oklahoma : Oklahoma law passed, 37 to 9 an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol. The feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake. Hey this is a conservative state, based on Christian values...! HB 1330 Guess what.......... Oklahoma did it anyway. Oklahoma recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen. They all scattered. HB 1804. This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said it would be a mistake. Guess what.......... Oklahoma did it anyway. Recently we passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegal's to the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes. Pelosi said it was unconstitutional SB 1102 Guess what......... Oklahoma did it anyway. Several weeks ago, we passed a law, declaring Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives. Joining Texas , Montana and Utah as the only states to do so. More states are likely to follow: Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Carolina's, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi and Florida. Save your confederate money, it appears the South is about to rise up once again. HJR 1003 The federal Government has made bold steps to take away our guns. Oklahoma, a week ago, passed a law confirming people in this state have the right to bear arms and transport them in their vehicles. I'm sure that was a setback for the criminals The Liberals didn't like it -- But.... Guess what........... Oklahoma did it anyway. Just this month, the state has voted and passed a law that ALL drivers’ license exams will be printed in English, and only English, and no other language. They have been called racist for doing this, but the fact is that ALL of the road signs are in English only. If you want to drive in Oklahoma , you must read and write English. Really simple. By the way, the Liberals don't like any of this either Guess what...who cares... Oklahoma is doing it anyway. If you like it, pass it on, if you don't then delete it...Thanks

Today's #AccessToWhat data point no. 9 comes from Tennessee. While this data comes from Statewide Legal Needs Assessment 2014 (the latest report), it is safe to say, based on data and trends across the US, that the civil justice crisis in Tennessee has only gotten worse in the past 10 years. ❗ About 6 out of 10 Tennessee low-income households reported experiencing one or more civil legal problems in the 12 months before the report. ❗ Over 60 percent of low-income Tennesseans who reported having a single biggest legal problem did not take action to solve their problem. Common reasons included lack of financial resources, lack of trust in the judicial system, feeling it is better to leave things alone, and feelings of intimidation by the legal system. ❗ Only 50 households of the 1,184 included in the study indicated they had sought legal help from a private attorney to resolve their most serious legal problem. This is market failure. Lawyers have an affirmative obligation to #MakeLawBetter. Don't fall for the fear mongering. I used to practice law in Kansas. You know what the felony theft threshold is in that "Red" state? $1,000. You know what most of my clients were struggling with? Poverty. Prop 47 brought California's threshold for felony theft in line with the majority of American states. Only 10 states in America have thresholds that are less than $1,000, including California. Reducing theft and other property crimes requires us to come together to address root causes. Repealing Prop 47 will not do that. News Alert: Los Angeles County Commits to Permanently Pay Private Attorneys to Fight Evictions. On July 16th (first reading) and July 23rd (second reading) the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to pass an ordinance making the existing Stay Housed L.A. right to counsel pilot program a permanent program despite lacking any source of permanent funding for the program.  This egregious lapse in financial responsibility is thanks to the Supervisors letting emotions override common sense once again. What it means in reality; if a tenant does not pay their rent the county will hire a private attorney to represent them in court. This will marginalize many prospective tenants, whereas a landlord will only rent to a tenant with absolutely perfect credit and history. Borderline tenants need not apply. California is a one party state. Constituents continue to vote down party lines regardless of the intellect of the candidate they are voting for. They need a dose of reality.
