Members of the Communications and Information Services division recently volunteered at the Central Texas Food Bank where they helped bag nearly 6,000 lbs of carrots that will become a part of 4,863 meals. We're so proud of their commitment to giving back to the community! #WorkAtCPA

Meet Tim Kennedy. The media silence on #Helene and lack of leadership out of DC is infuriating. The only way we get help to those who need it will be citizen journalism and social media. This is an update as of this morning. Forget any politics. People are dying because they are trapped. See my next post. If you have the ability please donate to local non beuroctatic volunteers, and non profits. Fema, and governmental NGOs are fumbling through red tape. Hurry up and wait. It's typical. 🙏🏼 Asheville update: -businesses are cash only -very limited gas but seems to be coming in -grocery stores are limiting what you can buy and how many people can come in at one time -there’s a curfew at night and businesses close at 7 PM -there are no restaurants open -people outside of the city are still completely isolated with roads in and out being washed away or sinkholes prevent anyone from driving out -command control from federal agencies and National NGO’s are a bureaucratic failure -state and local law-enforcement are doing the heavy lifting -all hotels are full. The federal agencies booked entire hotel, preventing locals from having rooms

We’re thrilled to celebrate the work of Only A Pavement Away, which has helped 600 Members start careers in hospitality, contributing over £30 million to the economy. Even more inspiring, 90 Members have now been in employment for over 3 years. 💛 Homelessness can happen for many reasons—loss of affordable housing, job loss, mental health struggles, leaving prison or the armed forces without a home to return to, or escaping an abusive relationship. That’s why we’re proud to support this purposeful charity, helping people facing homelessness rebuild their lives through hospitality employment. Here’s how you can help: 25p from every yellow-labelled pack of Roast & Ground's 'Fuel Their Day' coffee goes directly to Only A Pavement Away—and we match it, doubling the amount to 50p per pack! ☕ Plus, like all our coffees, it’s made with 100% ethically sourced, Rainforest Alliance-certified, speciality-grade beans. These guys Storehouse Foodbank Trowbridge are amazing! But they really need help with funding and sharing of awareness of what they do due to the huge increase in demand in the cost of living crisis. Please do what you can to help, either individually or as a business. They recently took on the homeless support in Trowbridge from Breakthrough (Salvation Army) who were in Castle Street, Trowbridge. They have installed a shower and washing machine in Emmanuel's Yard under the title of NEXUS project. Providing care, love and support for homeless to give them some dignity and help without judgement. Please donate if you can, no matter how small - If you are business and are able to setup some kind of collection point scheme, or regular donations as a part of your regular giving and want to know more, drop me a direct message and I'll get you connected with Jill Neighbour. What Is Storehouse? Storehouse Foodbank is a project that aims to support families, couples, and individuals in short-term need of food and toiletries. Based in Trowbridge, this service began in 2006 in response to a growing need within our community. Since then, we have developed good working relationships with a range of local agencies and services to support the wider community. In April 2010, the food bank opened a referral centre. Over the years we have seen continual and significant growth in need. People who access our service find themselves in difficult circumstances often through no fault of their own. For example, they may have been made redundant or have lost work through a severe illness. Some service users are attempting to rebuild their life after the breakdown of a marriage or partnership, or they could be recovering from a situation of domestic violence. For more info and to support Storehouse Foodbank Trowbridge (who I volunteer for) here's the link https://lnkd.in/g93qqBUD ps I'm not ashamed to admit that these guys helped me so much in the past. Providing my family with food when we needed it. That's why I am volunteering time to do whatever I can within my limits, and I need help if anyone can help me to raise awareness in the Trowbridge area, but also sharing this to get donations on the website. Blessed to be a blessing to others who need the services too <3 #fundraising #homelesssupport #homeless #foodbank #TrowbridgeFoodbank #globalfamilysupport

DYK? Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a joint effort between New York City's 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation as an initiative to counterbalance the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. As we approach Giving Tuesday, we asked our leadership team at The United Effort Organization "What does “Effective Philanthropy” mean to you?" Shari Kipp, our Chief Marketing Officer said "For me, it's about turning passion into meaningful action. Over my 30 years successfully marketing high-value diagnostics and medical devices, it's ingrained in me to look for organizations that follow a strategic approach to maximize the impact of my hard-earned money! I ask: - Does the organization make evidence-based decisions? - Is it using resources efficiently? - Does it collaborate to amplify impact? - Is it always learning and adapting? I found The United Effort Organization! Our work helps individuals at risk of or experiencing homelessness move towards self-sufficiency and find safe homes. As we each reflect on how we can create the biggest impact with our giving, I invite you to join me in supporting their mission. Your donation to https://lnkd.in/gaS96DYx will make a real difference in transforming lives and strengthening our community. Together, we can turn "effective philanthropy" into real-world change. Let’s make it happen!"

Chapter 23 - What’s Your Story? https://lnkd.in/e_gip5pj Photo by Matt Collamer on UnsplashMany people know I’ve done a lot of work for charities and that homelessness is an issue close to my heart. What most people don’t know is that I was unsecurely housed and risked bankruptcy and homelessness to get my journalism qualification in the first place. This article was first published in 2012 in Our Voice magazine. Our Voice is the magazine of BUCFP (Brighton Unemployed Centre Families Project) which provides practical support to low-income and unwaged individuals and families. Services include classes and workshops, training courses, child care, lunched and drop-in welfare advice. Run by volunteers and project workers for more than 30 years they’ve offered community support in a safe and friendly environment. I’m republishing this article here to raise awareness about the work that they do. Find out more at www.bucfp.orgWho are you? What’s your story? What do you want?
