Read mine and Eva Maria Jernsands newly published open access article "Political and relational co-creation for inclusive tourism development" in Scandinavian Journal of Hospitality and Tourism. In the article, understanding of the 'who' in co-creation is widened, and the 'how' expands into suggestions for just inclusion of a diversity of actors. This is the first article in the upcoming special issue on inclusive tourism - a nuanced and deepened understanding. I am thrilled to announce the publication of a new article co-authored with my former undergraduate student Daylton Araújo. This research is a result of Daýlton's outstanding undergraduate thesis called "The Impact of Sustainability Actions on the Destination Image of Global Cities: A Case Study of Rio de Janeiro among International Tourists." The article explores how Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's main gateway for tourism, is perceived among international tourists and examines whether sustainability efforts can influence the choice of an international destination. The case study revealed that although Rio de Janeiro is considered a travel option by the majority of the respondents, local initiatives like the Rio 2030 Agenda, which aim to promote urban sustainability, are still relatively unknown to the international audience, highlighting the need for greater attention from relevant authorities. Our findings aim to contribute to fields such as international business and tourism, especially in understanding how local sustainability actions can enhance the global image of city destinations and boost their tourism and hospitality industry. We hope this research will provide valuable insights for both scholars and practitioners in the areas of sustainable development, international tourism, and urban planning.
