🌍 SMART CITY TRACKER 🌍 #Montreal, a bustling metropolis with a population density of over 5,000 inhabitants per sq km, is grappling with a growing car dependency problem. 🚘What was once a 57% modal share in 2019 has swelled to 60% by 2023 🚔While shared mobility services like #ridehailing have seen an uptick, their growth pales in comparison to global frontrunners, with around 120k vehicles in operation 🚅 The city's 70km metro network, dwarfed by the global average of 180km, underscores the untapped potential for public transit. 💡 To combat this, Montreal has a bold 2050 mobility plan: ▶ A 50% reduction in car dependency. To achieve this, the city is prioritizing #PublicTransit, active transportation, and sustainable infrastructure ▶Increase the public transit network to 360km by 2050. ▶Active and public transport to account to about 70% modal share by 2050 💡 These are just few insights drawn out from our Smart City Tracker. Our Global Smart City Tracker that is recently launched tracks 60 parameters across Macroeconomic, Public Transport, Shared Mobility, Technology, Energy and EV Charging, City Quality Metrics and Sustainability and Economic parameters. 💻 We have detailed city dashboards covering these and dashboard to rank and benchmark the cities across the various parameters. Let's connect and discuss how our Smart City Tracker can benefit your organization. Geraldine Priya Sathyanarayana K #SmartCity #Strategy #UrbanPlanning #Vision2050
