Many may wonder what Green Cross United Kingdom, an NGO dedicated to ensuring a safe and sustainable future is doing by addressing medical issues. However, sustainability, like the human body, is a complex system in which everything is interconnected. Our vision of sustainability goes beyond mere environmental conservation; it encompasses the overall health of individuals and communities. Sustainability is based on the idea that our choices, especially regarding food, have a direct impact on our health and well-being. A balanced diet, rooted in responsible agricultural practices, not only nourishes our bodies but also protects our ecosystems. Promoting sustainable agriculture means supporting farmers who use methods that preserve soil, reduce chemical usage, and foster biodiversity. By addressing the link between sustainability and health, we aim to highlight the importance of choosing foods that are not only nutritious but also produced ethically and sustainably. This not only benefits our health but also contributes to a fairer and more equitable future for all. Moreover, as individuals with type 2 diabetes, we must be particularly mindful of our dietary choices. Taking care of ourselves is crucial, and selecting sustainable and healthy options can have a positive impact on our long-term health. By integrating sustainability into our daily lives, we not only enhance our quality of life but also care for the planet for future generations.

Tara Dietz, MIES, LIRC Ambassador’s journey is a powerful reminder of the courage it takes to advocate for your own health, especially when it comes to dealing with symptoms that are often stigmatized or misunderstood. Opening up about things like bleeding, vomiting, allergies, and fluctuating weight can feel incredibly vulnerable, but as Tara learned, talking about these issues is the first step toward getting the right support and care. It’s common to feel scared or overwhelmed when facing chronic health challenges, but having a supportive team can make all the difference. When we share our struggles, it helps reduce the shame or isolation that can come with living with symptoms that might not always be visible to others. Tara’s experience also shows how important it is to trust yourself and your intuition. She wasn’t afraid to ask questions, seek answers, and advocate for her well-being. If you’re dealing with similar issues, remember that your voice is important, and you don’t have to go through it alone. You have the power to build a team that works for you, and that includes health professionals who listen and take you seriously. Support is key — whether it's friends, family, or a community that understands what you're going through. Tara’s story is an inspiration to anyone who’s felt silenced or unsure about sharing their own health struggles. You are not alone. #theghf #destigmatize #gastrohealth #CrohnsAndColitisAwareness #IBD #AwarenessWeek #SupportIBD #FightIBD
