Congratulations to Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) inventors Chidubem (Arthur) Nwokoye, JinHyeon Yoo, and Nick Jones who were granted U.S. Patent No. 12,158,511 B1 on yesterday titled “Magnon Excitation and Detection Systems, Apparatus, and Methods”. This invention is for magnon excitation (production) and detection systems. Magnons are quantized collective oscillations (waves) of the precession of magnetic moments of atoms in a magnetic field. The invention describes a system for modulating, digitizing, sending data, and communicating via these magnetic spin waves. This type of innovation in our Navy R&D ecosystem is what keeps us leading the way. #patents #innovation #NavalSTEM #DoDInnovates #DoDFutures #CarderockROCKS

📣 CALL FOR PROPOSALS 📣 The proposal window is now open for the 22nd Annual Acquisition Research Symposium & Innovation Summit, scheduled for May 7-8, 2025. Deadline for paper and panel proposals is November 18. Learn more & submit proposals at www.researchsymposium.com. This year, the symposium is combined with an Innovation Summit under the overarching theme of "Transitioning Technology." The goal of this dual event is to explore and promote innovative ways to #transitiontechnology from research and development to programs of record to support the warfighter. The Innovation Summit will take place May 8, featuring panels designed to enhance understanding of current, past and future #innovation efforts across the defense innovation ecosystem. These panels will be composed of stakeholders from across academia, industry and government, bringing together diverse perspectives and areas of expertise. The Symposium is sponsored by the Acquisition Research Program at Naval Postgraduate School, Department of Defense Management at Naval Postgraduate School, Naval Warfare Studies Institute at Naval Postgraduate School, and the Naval Postgraduate School Foundation & Alumni Association. #Acquisition #Collaboration #defenseindustry #innovationsummit

As robot-human teams begin to make their way to the modern battlefield, maintaining a full picture of the electromagnetic spectrum (radio waves, radar systems, and every other invisible communication type) becomes exponentially more important. We're building the tools that make simulating and visualizing EMS for both training and operations.

#TechTuesday Joystick Remote Control Circuit Patent In 1926, the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory's C.B. Mirick patented his system for remote radio control of pilotless aircraft (or of "any circuits or objects which are to be controlled at a distance") using a " 'joy stick' identical with the 'joy stick' provided in aircraft." U.S. Patent no. 1,597,416, "Electrical Distant-Control System," Aug. 24, 1926. "my invention relates broadly to distant control systems, and more particularly to a control circuit for a radio transmitter, and a selectively responsive circuit for a radio apparatus whereby particular controls may be caused to function individually or simultaneously."
