I'm officially open to my next career opportunity. Last week, I faced the unexpected challenge of being laid off, and while it left me uncertain about my next steps, I've decided to view it as a chance to connect with people and open myself up to new experiences. I have 60 FIRST cousins. As you can imagine, it's a lot of different personalities. I grew up listening to a lot of chismis, and constantly heard people talk all over each other during holidays and family get-togethers. I credit this upbringing for my success at WBD - a large, highly matrixed org. As a leader who supported 10+ brands and 3 sales teams across 5 markets, I received broad swaths of information and distilled relevant information to create strategic and actionable connections/recommendations for my stakeholders. 🤝 I connected the right people for collabs ✍ I shared creative/social best practices tailored to their resources 💰 I highlighted which advertisers were buying on brand A but not brand B 💴 I shared creative ways social can be used to bring incremental value or solve business problems (like mitigating linear under deliveries) Here's the only picture of me and all my cousins on my dad's side. Sometimes, life has a funny way of pushing you toward new opportunities. After being laid off from Motorola (the writing was on the wall—6 months without a single eCommerce budget approved), I’ve decided to make this season one of growth, reinvention, and new beginnings. Here’s how I’m making the most of my time right now: ✅ Sharpening my skills: Recertifying in Google Ads and Analytics to stay ahead of the curve in digital marketing. ✅ Revamping my brand: Optimizing my resume and LinkedIn to reflect my 13+ years of expertise of work experience with highlights in eCommerce and digital strategy. ✅ Wearing ALL the hats: Running a dog rescue, managing my husband’s landscaping business’s digital marketing, and still being a full-time mom to two incredible kids. ✅ Exploring the future: Strategically applying to roles where I can bring my passion for driving growth, building seamless digital experiences, and delivering data-driven results ✅ Learning and connecting: Networking with professionals, exchanging insights, and staying inspired by the latest eCommerce and marketing trends. If you recently are thrust into the job market. Ask a few people, don’t just listen to me. Ask them how long did it take you? How long is the process? My guess is you will find it is a lot longer than they wanted or anticipated. You need to dedicate some time everyday towards the job hunt. A few hours here and few hours there.
