Happy Pride Month, everyone. While there is much to celebrate, it's also important to understand that with visibility often comes more scrutiny, vulnerability, attacks, and even danger. The strides that the LGBTQ+ community has made in just the last decade have been immense, but even in the face of progress, there are still so many disparities and issues that need to be addressed. For example, mental health in the LGBTQ+ community is a major issue. Here are some alarming stats: ➡️ 39% of LGBTQ+ young people seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year — including 46% of transgender and nonbinary young people. ➡️ More than 1 in 10 (12%) LGBTQ+ young people attempted suicide in the past year. ➡️ 50% of LGBTQ+ young people who wanted mental health care in the past year were not able to get it. If we want LGBTQ+ youth to grow up living happy and fulfilling lives, we need to make sure they have affirming support systems and access to mental health resources. #PrideMonth #LGBTQYouth #LGBTQMentalHealth
