The Season of Care and Compassion As December unfolds, we’re reminded that this time of year is not just about celebrations, but also about giving and compassion. In healthcare, these values resonate deeply, as we strive to bring comfort and care to our patients every day. The holiday season often brings its own set of challenges for many, and as healthcare professionals, it’s our privilege to ensure that every patient feels seen, heard, and cared for—no matter the time of year. Whether it’s a warm smile, an extra moment of listening, or going above and beyond to meet a need, these small gestures can make a big difference. To my peers in healthcare: let’s continue to bring the spirit of the season into our work. Let’s show our patients and colleagues the kindness and empathy that define our profession. Wishing everyone a joyful December filled with connection, gratitude, and the satisfaction of knowing we’re making a difference. #PatientCare #HealthcareLeadership #CompassionInAction #DecemberReflections #SeasonOfCare

Saturday Statistics: First, We would like to say Happy Thanksgiving to our southern neighbors. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend with family and friends. What are the busiest months in hospitals? Do holidays affect it? Working as an RN, there are always "perks" to working holidays- well staffed, usually great food in the staff room, and USUALLY less patients. This of course, varies from floor to floor. According to recent research, January, March and May are the busiest months for Hospitals. Why is that? Flu season? More accidents? Starting the year off with caring for their health? They aren't able to explain why this is the case. But interesting Statistics for sure!

With the festive season fast approaching, it’s easy to get caught up in the celebrations. But some activities can land you in trouble if you’re not careful. Here are a few Victorian offences to watch out for: 👉 Drink Driving: The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.05. Random breath testing is common during the holidays, and penalties can include heavy fines, licence suspension, or even imprisonment for high-range offences. 👉 Drug Possession: Even small amounts of illicit substances can result in significant legal consequences. 👉 Fireworks Offences: Setting off illegal fireworks could result in fines or prosecution under Victorian law. 👉 Street Offences: Behaviour like swearing, fighting, or public urination can lead to charges of offensive behaviour or conduct. Our team at Stary Norton Halphen encourages everyone to celebrate responsibly and stay out of trouble. 📅 Holiday Office Hours: Our offices will be closed from 1.00pm on Friday 20 December to 5 January, while our hardworking team enjoys a well-earned break. We will reopen on Monday 6 January 2025. 📞 After-Hours Legal Advice: For urgent matters, including pre-interview advice or bail applications, our after-hours advice service remains available 24/7 on 0407 410 821. Stay safe, stay responsible, and have a happy festive season!
