Peel back the layers of this understated a post just a little and you see the Canadian Coast Guard making material contributions in the Arctic to: the health and resilience of communities through resupply; deeper scientific understanding of our changing climate and its asymmetric impact in the high latitudes; and our international security partnerships by operating at sea with the US Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. What you’re seeing is just one ship’s perennial contribution to Canada’s sovereignty and security - economic, environmental, human, and physical. This is what asserting sovereignty and strengthening security looks like in action. Note also the fact that the ship breaks ice in the Arctic in the summer and the St. Lawrence in the winter. Another unsung strength of the CCG. Modesty and operational stamina!
Welcome home! 🚢👋 After 90 days in the Arctic conducting icebreaking operations, science missions and collaborating with the US Coast Guard, the CCGS Pierre Radisson is finally back and getting ready for the icebreaking season! Are you ready? ❄️
