💥Reflecting on the B. You Conference💥 Today, I had the privilege of attending the B. You conference, organized by Berla Mundi where I was inspired by remarkable women in business and the corporate world. Their willingness to share their experiences and insights was truly uplifting! Here are a few key takeaways that resonated with me: The Sigmoid Curve: For the first time, I learned about the sigmoid curve from Ellen M Hagan (Dr.) She related it to personal growth, emphasizing the importance of recognizing when to pivot before we plateau. This concept of viewing ourselves as products ready for the next curve was eye-opening! Defining Success: Success can mean different things to different people. To truly B. You, it’s essential to define success on your own terms and actively work toward achieving those personal goals. The God Factor: A common thread among these inspiring women was their reliance on God. Hearing them speak about their faith in God and their engagement with the Holy Spirit was both humbling and motivating. Goal Setting: Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh’s insight on goal setting struck a chord: never compare your journey to others. Instead, focus on your own short-term and long-term goals. Sharing these goals with trusted individuals can help you stay accountable. Time and Consistency: Gwen Gyimah Addo emphasized that achieving greatness requires time and consistency. Excellence is a result of dedicated effort over time. “How wonderful it would be to travel around the world, talking about your successes. My reality is that I travel around the world and I talk about the mistakes.” In 2011, former Olympic athlete Marion Jones spoke candidly to the Massachusetts Conference for Women about rebuilding trust with others, self-forgiveness, and moving forward through life with positive choices. “I've learned to make the most of second chances. At times, I know that many people may misinterpret this as not being contrite or remorseful. However, it's not that I'm trying to avoid my past. But I recognize that I can't go back and change those things. There's no delete button in my life. So the only real thing that I can do now is focus on the now and the future. So the only real thing that I can do now is ask myself, ‘what can I do today?’” What a powerful message about growth, and how—despite our biggest mistakes and failures—we still have worth. As 2025 unfolds, I find myself reflecting on my own winding path to purpose, and my heart overflows with gratitude for being part of the Algarve Women's Network. For years, I wrestled with the voices telling me to 'pick just one thing,' to narrow myself down, to fit into a single neat box. I was the woman of many hats – skills and passions flowing in different directions, each one authentic, each one truly me. The pressure to 'niche down' felt like being asked to dim parts of myself. But here's the beautiful paradox I discovered: my supposed 'scattered' talents weren't a weakness – they were precisely what made me whole. Every skill, every interest, every experience was a thread weaving together into something greater. My true calling wasn't about choosing between my abilities, but about using all of them to lift other women up. In this sisterhood, I found the space to embrace my multifaceted nature. With every conversation, every shared moment of vulnerability, every opportunity to support another woman with exactly what she needed – whether through my business insight, my emotional intelligence, or my practical experience – I realized that being 'too much' was actually being exactly enough. To every woman who has shared her story with me, who has trusted me with her dreams, who has shown me that our complexity is our superpower – thank you. You've helped me understand that sometimes finding your path means creating one that didn't exist before. Our greatest strength lies not in fitting into prescribed roles, but in showing up as our complete, authentic selves. Why women need to 𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. Today, I woke up to a beautiful image of three amazing women. Simone Biles, and Jordan Chiles, celebrating Rebeca Andrade's gold medal at the Olympics. 🌟 This image is everything I want to see going forward. Often, as women, we are pushed to compete against each other. But this picture shows a different story. It's about competing, making each other better, and celebrating our successes together. This picture also reminded me of a chat I had earlier this year with Anna Raptis from Amplifica Capital. She created the first venture capital firm in Latin America focused on diverse teams. We talked about our common mission to get more capital into the hands of capable women. Anna said something that stuck with me: "𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘢 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘺." This is a mindset shift that I am happy to see is now more and more common. We need more examples of women saying, "Let's collaborate and/or compete gracefully." Let's uplift each other and create economic and social impact together. There's plenty of space for all of us. Seeing these gymnasts celebrate each other captures this spirit perfectly. We need to encourage more women to pursue their dreams and support each other. So, I invite any ambitious woman looking to build from pursue and impact towards society to join our sisterhood at Amela. We are here to uplift each other and create more wins for society. What an incredible day at the Society of Professional Women event hosted by the @mainlinechamber My amazing and talented friend Erika Rothenberger, LEED AP, PMP was the keynote speaker, and let me tell you – she delivered! Erika shared so much wisdom about the power of networking and making meaningful connections, something she’s truly a master at. She captivated a room of over 150 women and men, giving us all practical tips on how to be better at not only connecting with others, but also providing value. Here are a few takeaways from Erika’s talk: ✨ WIIFT: What’s In It For Them? Shift the focus from what you can get, to how you can serve others. It’s a mindset that builds meaningful connections. ✨ How can you make an impact? It’s nice to work, and even better when the return involves such activities. What a break from all interviews... Last week I participated in a special event that aligns closely with my values and beliefs. The Vital Voices Global Dialogue, which took place as part of the 15th edition of the DVF Awards in Venice had lots of inspiring and deep conversations, shared ideas related to the new model of leadership – how women leaders who face challenges by acting on the principles of inclusion, empathy, and progress can make it better. How we can create a better world together - men and women, older and younger generations, activists, artists, politicians, ... people of all nations. We discussed the current global situation, moving on to setting goals and identifying the audience for our future actions. Then it was time for specific tools and actions, which started to take effect immediately after the workshop ended. Meeting women from over 20 different countries around the world and hearing their stories, exchanging observations and solutions, was truly inspiring experience. One might say that there could be many differences between us, but honestly, the only thing I felt was unity and empowerment. Each of our voices, though telling different stories based on completely different experiences, shouted loudly the same thing – we want to act together towards strength and the fight against unjust governments, laws, and discrimination. Each of us fights in a different way, setting up initiatives, leading different groups. What is beautiful is that for those few days we were able to understand and unite so well. After last difficult weeks, Venice gave me exactly what I needed: wind beneath my wings and reassurance that what I am doing is necessary and important. I left there charged with positive energy to continue working here in Poland, where women's issues are closest to my heart. Ahead of us is the Summit, and today we had a kick off of the first stage of the 7th edition of "I Am a Leader." Last month, our CEO Karrie Liu (CMath FIMA) was a finalist for the AWA (Asian Women of Achievement) Science category. It was an honour to hear such inspiring stories and to have the opportunity to engage in cross-industry conversations. This luncheon was not just about celebrating achievements; it was about recognising the potential for interdisciplinary partnerships. By coming together, we can leverage our unique skills and insights to create impactful solutions. It’s events like these that remind us of the power of collaboration and the incredible things we can achieve when we work together. At first glance, it may not seem like #DataAnalytics relates to other industries, but at this event, we were surprised by the common ground we found.  Whether it’s Arts and Culture, Media, Public Service, Science, Social & Humanitarian efforts, Sport, or Technology & Digital, there are more connections than you might think. Some of us started thinking about collaborations that span these diverse industries, and we are excited about the potential to provide data analytics expertise to support these initiatives.
