Is it not better for the annual gathering of Lawyers be organized as social events. The AGC has always ended inconclusive. The AGC and lecture series can be virtual. You pay for whatever lecture you are interested in. You pay for the social events you want to attend, this can be contracted out to hospitality companies,the class reunions and religious groups can have their programs. The NBA should stop collecting money from business people to host exhibitions for them. Apart from meeting old friends, partying, games etc, tell me the benefits of the annual gathering?

He pulled out a trumpet. He played well. I still fired him. What would you have done? I was traveling with a new regional sales manager for Europe. I was about 25, he was closer to 40. He had studied jazz in school, but then got some sales experience. I took him around to meet the various distributors. From Russia to London, 10 cities in 2 weeks. There were a few things that caught my attention, but I felt I could coach him into being pretty good at the job. At Heathrow, he opens his suitcase, pulls out a trumpet, and starts playing. “What are you doing?” “Practicing.... I told you I’m a musician. I need to keep my fingers and lips supple, so I practice every day” “Cool.... Why did you leave your suitcase open like that?” “Oh, you know... if people like my music they can contribute” “So, you are begging in the biggest airport in the world, after leaving a business meeting?” “Well, no I have to practice, I just am giving people an opportunity to donate to me as I practice.” “Please put the trumpet away... Wait, you say you need to practice every day, what have you been doing this whole trip?” “Every night after you go to bed I have been going out and standing in front of the hotel to play” “With a hat or something?” “Yeah... you know, if people want to donate... “ “Every day after leaving a meeting with customers and distributors, you stand on the street and busk. you don’t see any issue with that?” So, I fired him.
