💔 The Hidden Toll of Malnutrition Malnutrition impacts every system in the body, leaving children and families vulnerable to life-altering complications—and in extreme cases, even death. Here's how it affects the body: 🛡 Immune System: Reduced ability to fight infections. 💪 Muscles: Weakness, inactivity, and increased risk of pressure ulcers and blood clots. 🌬 Respiratory System: Difficulty coughing, increasing the risk of chest infections and pneumonia. ❤️ Heart: Impaired wound healing and heart failure. 💧 Kidneys: Difficulty regulating salt and fluids, leading to dehydration or overhydration. 🧠 Brain: Apathy, depression, social withdrawal, and impaired mental health. 👶 Reproduction: Reduced fertility, and for pregnant women, increased risks of chronic illness in babies. ❄ Temperature Regulation: Increased vulnerability to hypothermia. This is why Virreyes Rugby Club, with support from The Atlas Foundation, provides meals, healthcare, and education to tackle malnutrition in Buenos Aires' vulnerable communities. 📢 Stay informed and donate today https://lnkd.in/eUTP6tBB #MalnutritionAwareness #AtlasFoundation #VirreyesRugbyClub #HealthForAll

1 in 5 older adults with severe periodontal disease are at risk of #malnutrition. https://lnkd.in/gJ_kEgVA Poor oral health has consequences. It brings on #frailty, #sarcopenia and #anorexia of aging simply because chewing good food is difficult. So how do we treat chronic oral inflammation in our aging communities? Treat the bacteria causing the problem. Topically, without discomfort, in the seniors' centre or LTC, in 10 minutes without any aerosols or equipment. Use #Prevora. Because it is considered by older adults to be very important, very acceptable and very beneficial to overall health.

What is "wasting?" The most severe, life-threatening form of malnutrition, wasting is defined as significantly low weight-to-height for children and infants under 5 years old. Wasting makes children especially vulnerable to delays in development, disease, and death. Worldwide, 60 million children are affected by wasting - most of which are under 2 years old. There is a solution: RUTF (Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food). Meds & Food for Kids' Medika Mamba program treats severely malnourished children, and has a 92% success rate. #WorldHungerDay #ZeroHunger #SDGs UNICEF World Health Organization

AAP Minister Atishi has been on a hunger strike for the last three days She did not take anything except water. Let us understand 'What happens to the body when it lacks essential nutrients for an extended period?' Fluids vs. No Fluids: If a person receives fluids (but no food), the risk of death from malnutrition is estimated at 6 to 8 weeks. Without fluids, death can occur after just one week. Timeline of Impairment: Days 2-3: The body starts using muscle protein to produce glucose needed for cell metabolism. Week 2: Dizziness, weakness, loss of coordination, low heart rate. Week 3: Vision loss and neurological problems. After 1 Month: Permanent damage if body weight loss exceeds 18%. I am neutral to political parties but I still believe if she is ready to take so much of risk it can not be just a political drama. #HealthAndWellness #NutritionAwareness #PublicHealth #HungerStrike #PoliticalProtest #HumanRights #Malnutrition

Did you know that malnutrition can have long-lasting effects on a child’s health, growth, and development? A shocking 15,000 children were hospitalised last year due to severe acute malnutrition. This crisis takes a toll on our future generation, and it’s critical we address it now. It’s crucial to understand the four main indicators: 👶 Stunting: Low height-for-age, often resulting from chronic or recurrent undernutrition. It is linked to poor socioeconomic conditions, inadequate maternal health and nutrition, frequent illnesses, and poor feeding practices. Stunting can hinder physical and cognitive development. ⚖️ Wasting: Low weight-for-height, typically caused by recent and severe weight loss due to insufficient food intake or infectious diseases like diarrhoea. Children with wasting are at a higher risk of death, but treatment is possible. ⚖️ Overweight: A condition where a person is too heavy for their height due to excessive fat accumulation. It is measured by Body Mass Index (BMI), with a BMI of 25 or more considered overweight in adults. 📉 Underweight: Low weight-for-age, which may be a result of stunting, wasting, or both. Underweight individuals, particularly children, are more vulnerable to disease and death. Malnutrition is preventable, but we have to speak up. Don’t let silence be the reason children continue to suffer. Take action to protect our children’s health—together. #16days #malnutrition #silence #childhealth #speakup #dontletyoursilencesoundthesirens
