" I had no idea that the company I worked for in the hospitality industry had decided to screen us for HIV during the medical examination. Twelve of us were laid off. Today, I stand with Pridelines and countless others across the globe in recognizing World AIDS Day—a day of reflection, remembrance, and renewed commitment to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic. As someone deeply invested in community health and empowerment, I’m proud of the transformative work Pridelines is doing to ensure access to HIV prevention, treatment, and education for all, particularly within our LGBTQ+ community. Through free and confidential testing, access to PrEP, and holistic support services, we are not just addressing a medical issue—we are breaking down barriers, eradicating stigma, and creating spaces where every individual can thrive. This year’s theme, “End Inequalities. End AIDS. End Pandemics,” serves as a powerful reminder that equity and justice are at the heart of this fight. We must continue to challenge the systemic inequities that disproportionately affect marginalized communities and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy, dignified life. On this day, I encourage you to reflect on the progress we’ve made and the work that remains. Whether you’re volunteering, donating, or simply sharing information, you are part of a global movement for change. Let’s keep fighting until we realize an HIV-free future. Together, we can do this. #WorldAIDSDay #Pridelines #EndAIDS #CommunityHealth #HIVAIDSPrevention #DrEdwardSummers #LGBTQLeadership
World AIDS Day: A Call to Remember, Reflect, and Recommit Today, on World AIDS Day, we pause to honor the lives lost to HIV/AIDS, celebrate the resilience of those living with the virus, and recommit ourselves to the fight against stigma, inequality, and the barriers to prevention, care, and treatment. At Pridelines, we stand in solidarity with the global community, united by a shared vision: an HIV-free future. But we know this vision can only become a reality through action, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Over the past year, Pridelines has taken monumental strides in supporting our LGBTQ+ community and others impacted by HIV/AIDS. From expanding our HIV and STI testing services to providing free access to PrEP, PEP, and ARV medications, we remain steadfast in ensuring that no one faces these challenges alone. Through partnerships, outreach, and advocacy, we’ve also extended our reach into underserved areas of Miami-Dade County, ensuring that lifesaving resources are accessible to all. This year’s World AIDS Day theme, “End Inequalities. End AIDS. End Pandemics.”, is a poignant reminder that the fight against HIV/AIDS is deeply intertwined with the fight for social justice. Marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals, face disproportionate rates of HIV due to systemic barriers and inequities. At Pridelines, we are not just addressing the medical aspects of the epidemic—we’re tackling the social determinants that perpetuate it. We recognize that ending HIV/AIDS requires more than medicine. It requires education, advocacy, and community support. It requires spaces like Pridelines, where individuals can feel safe, heard, and empowered to take charge of their health. As we move forward, we invite you to join us in this fight. Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading awareness, your involvement makes a difference. Together, we can: • Ensure equitable access to prevention and treatment services. • Dismantle stigma and misinformation. • Support those living with and impacted by HIV/AIDS. On this day, we remember that the fight against HIV/AIDS is a fight for humanity—a fight to create a world where everyone, regardless of their status, is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. Let’s end this epidemic together. For those seeking resources, testing, or support, Pridelines offers free and confidential services across our locations in Miami-Dade County. Together, we can make a difference. Today in honor of World AIDS Day we will hold a candlelight vigil at 3 pm wiht PPN at our headquarters. https://lnkd.in/ezDVhNrB #WorldAIDSDay #Pridelines #EndAIDS #LGBTQHealth #HIVAIDSPrevention #MiamiDade

In one of my favorite photographs ever, three of my heroes—President Nelson Mandela, President Jimmy Carter, and my dad—are cradling three babies born with HIV during a time when stigma made most people afraid to touch them. AIDS was one of the first issues our foundation worked on, and Nelson Mandela was both an advisor and an inspiration. On this Mandela Day—and every day—his legacy is a reminder that collective action, and kindness can usher in a better future.
