Refereeing is one of football’s toughest and most scrutinized (and most essential) roles. In our latest interview on The Backroom Staff, we spoke to Małgorzata Miniak about her journey from professional player to referee, the challenges she’s faced on and off the pitch, and how technology is shaping the future of officiating. This is an inside look at what it takes to succeed in this demanding career — and the hard work required to thrive under the pressure. Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/e-E_KrHN

This is the article that has taken by far the longest to put together of any I've ever written. Over a month's worth of research, data scraping, analysis and visualisations (cheers for the graphics Lachlan Avil ) and then actually writing the bloody thing on top of that. It's the launch of 'Reasonable Recruitment', an ambitious series we're hoping to push over at Round Ball Australia discussing all things football transfers through the lens of feasible, practical and reasonable suggestions. First installment? Well, Adelaide United, of course. I put together a list of 5 defenders they could take a look at, analyse their stats and discuss how they fit into United's team. If you haven't given it a read already, go check it out:

I am happy to confirm I have had another article published with Fulhamish looking at Marco Silva’s development of youngsters and their game time in the first team as a result. This article can be accessed here: https://t.co/9MakV98Bvm
Why is Marco reluctant to play our academy grads – and is that about to change?

Hot take as we enter the play-offs for English Football and in a week when Damian Carrington revealed just how scared climate scientists are about the future... Supporting Bradford City and working in climate are basically the same. Hear me out. No matter how bad our performance was the previous year, every September, as the season re-starts, Bradford fans are filled with a renewed sense of hope and ambition. The target is refreshed (but always pretty much along the lines of automatic promotion). A new strip is unveiled and we welcome a few new faces (usually someone who has been let go by another team). We bang the drum. We sing the songs. Things can start well enough, but - usually around Christmas time - the wheels start to come off. A string of bad results and all of a sudden, the ambition is watered down. "Maybe just the play-offs, not automatic promotion." Then the blame game starts. It's the manager's fault or the players lack heart. This year we even found time to blame the groundskeepers, the CEO, the owner and the landlord of our ground. So, what can I share as a Bradford fan that might help in this hope sapping season of the climate crisis? Well, Bradford will always be my club, no matter how much they falter. I have seen this team kill giants (sorry Matt White, Lorraine White, Jamie White), achieve things no-one thought was possible, even have the fans of other teams cheering us on. In the face of ridiculous odds they have clawed themselves back from the precipice on the pitch and off it (we have twice nearly gone out of business). They have taught me to never leave the game early. Keep pressing and the chances will come. *footnote: Bradford City are, and have for sometime, been languishing in the bottom division of English league football. But we're defo going up next season 🙏 #climatecommunications #climateaction #communications #CTID #UptheChickens #Sustainability #IPCC
