Escape Being an Industry Joe 🚶🎬 (All real Joes who are pros, please disregard) In video production, let's avoid the "Industry Joe" trap. Instead, aim to be a "Production Pro." Here’s how we do it: Solutions Over Problems – Pros are like magicians, always pulling solutions out of their hats instead of problems. Broadcast Wins, Not Questions – Envision pros as the project's news anchors, constantly reporting progress, never bogged down by queries. Complaining? No, Thanks – Complaining is as welcome as your equipment failing right before delivery. Let's keep the vibes positive! Don't Be Joe, Be Pro! Got any additional tips to share?

By 2050, the world will be in a very precarious situation. Most of us, especially those closer to the equator, will have been driven out of our homes because they would have become UNLIVABLE! Having worked with Sarthak Goswami on this video for the last few days - I've come to understand that us humans have in face become complacent towards the BIGGEST THREAT to our existence so far. This is probably the most important video I have worked on as a producer. It's time to WAKE THE HELL UP! Watch this video and let us know what you think! https://lnkd.in/gCUM3kBN

Some of the 2023 projects I worked on that made it a year to remember. Series Producer, Unscripted. Producer, Alli Eid Dinner Producer, PLS RT Each project was a unique learning curve for me, as no two are the same. A producer has to keep adapting. evolving, learning new ways to handle whatever challenges might pop up. Well established and defined communication channels are key to project success. When all teams are made aware of of a possible challenge, all hands come on deck to develop, change, improve upon processes or find solutions to the challenges, as opposed to one team buckling under the weight of the situation. Unscripted and Alli Eid are available on the Showmax SVOD service. PLS RT is coming soon.

I didn't feel like showing up yesterday. I had many excuses, very valid ones; .My video wasn't ready. .The sound effects wasn't complete. .Text was incomplete But then I remembered what will become of me if I didn't show up. So this is me, with my incomplete video assessment, showing up daily. Rate it and imagine what the complete one will look like. At Kingston School of Art, we are working with good VP solutions. Not massive LED volumes, or high-end green screen solutions. BUT, we are putting the VP process into the hands of creatives who need to understand how to make something work. "Thinking through making" (a KSA core value) is the academic version of "walking the talk." Today I watched 11 teams of art direction students present their responses to 11 creative briefs that involved 11 teams from the Drama department using VP environments to produce short media pieces. What Nathan is talking about here is exactly the mindset that educators need to bring to the table. ICVFX is useful if you know how to use it, and know what its plusses and minuses are. The only way to learn that is thinking through making or walking the talk.

Something dawned on me today that probably should have dawned on me earlier.. While many of us (myself included...) spend time online and at conferences debating the pros and cons of Virtual Production and what place it deserves to have in the future of production, it's just out there… quietly being useful. Some of the biggest budget shows of the past 12 months have used ICVFX; some significantly, others just a little. Some smaller shows and films have, too. While we debate the 'how' and 'when', it's just out there, finding its place and growing in capability. Utility is the best PR. And VP is carrying its weight, by showing its utility. It’s so easy to focus on the friction or the fight, and miss the little wins being chalked up all over the place – the moments where VP is simply just solving a problem for a production. So I thought it would be good to make a collaborative list of the films and TV series that have found utility in VP over the past year or two below. I’d love to make this a fairly complete, living list that we can all check back in on.. Throw your suggestions below!

A lot of producers are unclear about how best to approach YouTube. So, for them, I’ve written up *Sam’s Five S’s for YouTube Success(es)* Your films should always be: 1. Sensational 🥰 2. Simple ✅ 3. Scalable 📈 4. Saleable 🤑 5. Stingy 🤨 I’ve commissioned thousands of YouTube original videos since my first upload in 2007. And those films built a profitable and durable media business. 🔗 If you’d like to understand this proven approach, I’ve broken it down properly on the Creatorville website - link in comments 🔗 What have I missed?

How did TV go from idiot box to golden age? https://lnkd.in/eQArg32p I think this video is pretty LinkedIn-able. I'm obsessed with how cultural changes happen at scale, and I have a bit of a hobbyhorse that business and technology determine a lot of it. Interested to see if people agree (or don't).
