Late update! I have been working as a Senior Business Consultant for The Hip Hop Party Movement since last month. This Super PAC leverages #hiphop culture to promote political inclusion and #education for historically underrepresented communities. In today's world, where free press and political speech face unprecedented challenges, their mission is more important than ever. It’s a movement by the people and for the people - check them out, follow them, and find ways to support on LinkedIn, Instagram, and at TheHipHopParty.org. #TheHipHopParty #PoliticalInclusion #Education #AmericaTogether #democracymatters #diversityequityandinclusion

Here is one of THE BIGGEST stumbling blocks community builders face in engaging new people: FEAR AND DOUBT. It's not: -How to find new people to reach out to. -Designing meaningful and relevant programming to attract participants. -Being warm and welcoming when people arrive. (To be sure, all of those are an artform, and they can trip folks up, but the biggest sticking point is Fear.) Our inner critic tells us all kinds of unhelpful stories, like "the thing I’m recruiting for is no good, or it must not be interesting to people." or "They don’t like me or they think that I’m uncool." or "I’m bugging them, and they think I’m being too sales-y." There are techniques to move through so many of our sticking points, but as someone who has trained community builders in Relationship Based Engagement for 15 years, I spend most of my time helping people move through FEAR. That's why I loved this comment in the chat at the end of yesterday's Assembly Master Class: "I appreciate how many of us have the same concerns and fears!" Indeed we do. #RelationshipBasedEngagement #JewishCommunity

With the help of technology & allies, she teaches what she has to say is more important than how she says it. I hope to see you there! For most of the past decade we’ve been developing ways for our most severely affected, disabled and invisible colleagues to achieve and/or reconnect their own best forms of media privilege. This is a tricky landscape (and wow, daunting), but we’re better at navigating it than any other organization we know of. As increased resources flow in, we’ll get to show you more and more of the astonishing outcomes we achieve through this work. https://lnkd.in/ekNGpP-W 💖
