Platelets last just 7 days after they’ve been donated so NHS Blood and Transplant rely on people to donate regularly throughout the year. Most donations help people who are undergoing cancer treatment. Platelets can help avoid blood loss during chemotherapy. Who can benefit from platelets: 69% of donations go to people with cancer 17% helps people who’ve had surgery 8% helps people with medical conditions 5% goes to adults in intensive care 1% helps babies through intensive treatment What are platelets? Platelets are tiny gold-coloured cells in your blood which help it clot and stop bleeding.  Platelet transfusions can help people with cancer and people who’ve lost a lot of blood after an accident, organ transplant or surgery. One donation can help up to 3 adults or 12 children.

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  Did You Know? 45% to 60% of women have dense breast tissue.   Did You Know? If you have dense breast tissue a mammogram may not identify breast cancer up to 50% of the time.   Did you Know? Medical insurance may not always cover the additional imaging such as an Ultrasound or MRI needed to complete your breast cancer screening if you have dense breast tissue Please donate at https://lnkd.in/e2DWUZxY so we can continue to fund supplemental imaging at no cost to the patient. They help: 💖 Promote healing for post-operative recovery and overall well-being. 💖 Restore confidence and self-esteem after surgery. 💖 Lighten the financial burden of medical expenses. 💖 Provides a sense of normalcy when all seems lost. Donating these items to survivors is only possible through our strategic partnership with Impact One Breast Cancer Foundation, which provides extensive support and resources to breast cancer survivors.
