🚀 Over the past year, We've been on an incredible journey with The Body Respect Project, working behind the scenes to build a movement dedicated to transforming how we perceive, value and treat ourselves and others. Our dedicated team has been busy conducting interviews with educators, hosting roundtables with London boroughs, and refining our curriculum through real-world workshops and participant feedback in schools and organisations. Here’s what we’ve discovered: body dissatisfaction doesn’t discriminate—it impacts everyone, and it manifests uniquely based on individual experiences shaped by gender, race, socio-economic background, ability, and sexuality. This pervasive issue affects our mental health, our self-advocacy, our relationships, and our conflict resolution skills. Its ripple effects are profound and far-reaching. The Body Respect Project was born from a critical need: the struggle with low self-esteem that often starts in youth and evolves into self-limiting beliefs in adulthood. We are on a mission to dismantle discriminatory practices, toxic diet culture, toxic school and work environments and all the -isms/ias that undermine our collective well-being. Our goal is to foster communities filled with care, compassion, and genuine respect for our bodies and each other. We are thrilled to finally share our progress and invite you to join us in building an online community that champions healthy, respectful environments in schools and workplaces. Let’s work together to create spaces where well-being is prioritised, and joy is at the heart of everything we do. 🌟 #BodyRespect #MentalHealth #InclusiveWellbeing #JoyfulCommunities #TransformativeChange #DEI #antiracism #EDI

This month, it's my pleasure to recognize one of our newest Prison-to-Professional graduates Charles Dejesus of Cohort 35. I sat down with Charles, and he shared that, "From mental health to the 5% that are trying to change the narrative. One of my favorite things that we talked about was meditation and different ways to calm the body mind and spirit." As we observe Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month this May, it's imperative to acknowledge the significance of mental and physical well-being within the AAPI community. In the words of 朱浩然 Justin Zhu, Co-Founder, Executive Director of Stand with Asian Americans, "The mental, emotional and psychological health of each one of us is critical to our collective health." This quote underscores the long-standing barriers to seeking emotional support in the Asian American community, emphasizing the importance of addressing cultural stigma, language access issues, and resource limitations. It serves as a reminder that seeking help for mental health struggles is not only essential but also a courageous act of self-care. This AAPI Heritage Month, let us foster an environment that supports the holistic well-being of all our community members. May we continue to raise awareness, offer support, and advocate for accessible resources to ensure that no one feels alone in their journey towards mental and physical wellness. #AAPI #healthequity #wellbeing

The Year 6 #PYP Exhibition is underway Rome International School and, as their teachers, Grace Harrison and I could not be prouder. All of the students have presented with passion, confidence and an impressive level of knowledge about their chosen world issue. It's been a delight to see their inquiries evolve over the last six weeks and wonderful to see them present with such pride and skill to family members, peers and staff. As a Wellbeing and Positive Education Leader, it has particularly struck me that four groups out of eleven chose a topic with close links to wellbeing. With maturity and insight, they have explored themes such as practical strategies to manage wellbeing; the impact of bullying on mental health; the connection between addiction and mental health; and the link between alterhumanity and wellbeing. Their primary aim was to raise awareness about all of these topics and, apart from their excellent presentations, they did so by distributing green ribbons; teaching younger children with a puppet show; and even creating a 'road of debt' with shopping bags to highlight the issue of shopaholism. Students had complete freedom of choice over their topics. The fact that so many of them wanted to explore wellbeing and mental health, bodes well for the future. This generation is aware and keen to share. We are in good hands! #wellbeingandmentalhealth #mentalhealth #copingstrategies #bullying #pypexhibition #globeducate
