Today marks the culmination of Institute for Well-Being in Law (IWIL)'s Well Being Week in Law, with an emphasis on emotional health. Below, you'll find a selection of mini-experiments aimed at enhancing your focus and attention, tools for a mental health self-check-in, and creative ideas for how changing your scenery can uplift your mood. In addition, today’s webinar showcases live activities led by experts who will share well-being boosting activities. (Starting at 12pm ET, details below) On a personal note -- for those familiar with my journey, you know social connections, community involvement, and nature exposure are integral to how I manage my emotional well-being. During the pandemic, my newfound passion for gardening blossomed into nearly 50 houseplants and sparked a need for an outdoor greenhouse. I also discovered the joys of forest bathing—a practice that those in the know (Sarah-Nell Walsh, JD, PCC) will understand all too well. So when a dear friend invited my daughter and me to be part of the HBO show, Homegrown, hosted by master gardener and farmer, Jamila Norman, it was an immediate yes. This picture of Jamila, my daughter, and me fills me with so much happiness and peace every time I see it -- and reminds me to always prioritize what keeps us whole. As Gwendolyn Brooks once said, "We are each other’s harvest; we are each other’s business; we are each other’s magnitude and bond." Be well. ❤️ #wellbeing #leadership #mindfulness

Last year during one of our sessions, my mentor said - Namrata, you're a resilient person and consider it as your strengths!!! Absolutely! Being called resilient is a fantastic compliment. It means you're someone who can bounce back from setbacks, adapt to change, and persevere through challenges. Resilience is a valuable quality that can help you succeed in both your personal and professional life. It's a testament to your inner strength and your ability to overcome adversity. So, embrace your resilience and keep shining! Fail, Dust it off and Move forward... #optimistic

This is really interesting research on resilience building and the personality characteristics being studied that lead to progress or stagnation in growth that can be applied to work cultures and creating the conditions for a more optimistic one that uplifts individual contributors strengths in ways that strengthen team cohesion. People managers today need tools that are holistic and inclusive of emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual understanding of their employees if they are to effectively bring together more diversity in the workplace. https://lnkd.in/gv6QRrsN

When we encounter a person stubbornly inconsiderate of another's point of view, perhaps enquire... "What is it that you need right now"? In all likelihood they won't know what they need in the moment... but it may afford an opportunity for them to stop and think about it. Understanding our needs (even recognising that we have them) helps us to fulfil those needs ourselves and relieves the expectation on others to do it for us. What is is that you need to be a happy, healthy and fully functioning human being? Take your time because the list could be almost endless ~ Here are just a few needs to get you going 🤗 To be: Valued ~ Appreciated ~ Acknowledged ~ Respected ~ Encouraged ~ Useful ~ Seen ~ Accepted ~ Heard ~ Safe ~ Cared for ~ Loved... I'm here if you'd like a deeper dive into identifying your own needs. www.markaldercoaching.com
